You didnt say what year the car was but i know on some of the G M cars the chip in the key loses communication with the antitheft system in the car. What you can try is turn the ignition on so the dash lights come on and leave it on for 10 minutes after the 10 minutes the will start to flash. then turn it off and try to start the car
