Question about Ford Mustang

1 Answer

I have a 64' mustange that just had a new harness put on it, it came in the shop overcharging, I hooked everything up the way the diagram showed but it burned up the new regulator I just put in. (it came in with a burned up one too) The guy that worked on it before me had the alt. running full speed. my question is what does the letters on the regulator I,A,S,F, stand for? and where do they go?something is still miswired.

i'm sorry, I was actually a 1923 T bucket, but he told me everything on it was 64'(drivetrain, electric, ect.)after evaluating it I found out it was a 65, with 64' harness. real nice car but the guy that had it wired it wrong. I got the wiring right but he smoked the alt.and reg. got it fixed. thanks anyway.

send me some info on you buisness.I may use you another time I own a shop and sometimes get stumped. I stumbled on your website looking for a wiring diagram.

I cant get sound out of my speakers. i put in a new stereo and hooked it up

Did you use a wire harness specific to your vehicle year and model? Make sure you get the right harness, depending on what factory system came with the car(base or mach460 sound systems), If your speakers were working prior to replacing the radio, then there's a possibility that the harness may not be compatible. also, the car may be equipped with a factory amp(mach460 systems). Here's a link that may help you figure it out.

I riped the engine out of a 1988 Mustang GT. I put a new engine in but I would like to know how to find the ignition, amp meter oil gauge, tach hook up and stuff like that. I can't find a book so I could...

  • Here is the main spider harness diagram. If you are going to take on a project like this you need to get a Haynes Manual for that car. I took the liberty of locating it. Used by mechanics everywhere. It is very detailed with pictures, diagrams, everything. Get this book and you will have everything you need.

My fuse number 8 keeps blowing in my 1996 ford mustang. I dont know much about cars. Can anyone help me please???

You owners manual will tell all the things protected by that fuse.Unplug everything the book list, put in a new fuse and if it does'nt blow then start plugging the harnesses back in an the defective part will make the fuses blow.If it blows with everything unplugged, then the problem is in you harness.Have fun!

Wire harness dont know how to hook up radio cause colors dont match up

If your puting in a aftermarket stereo system, they make adapters that will plug into the factory harness and have a diagram of what to hook up to your new stereo. They should have one of these at a stereo store or even auto parts or Wal Mart. I had to put one in my 89 Caravan and 88 Prelude. I got them from the local stereo store and they were about $12 bucks or so. Depends on how much your stereo place overcharges.

Hope this works for you....

Need to finish my car but dont know how to get wiring diagrams with listed colors

Robbie, doing a harness overhaul with diagram is a mess, try a salvage yard to find harness you need, or look for one in remanufactured books for your car. I have done harnesses from scratch and can't tell you what a pain it is getting it right and fixing plugs for origional connections. If you find one at salvage take it out yourself so you understand how to hook it up. This is without a doubt the best advice that can be given in this case.
