Question about Chrysler Concorde

1 Answer

I have a `95 Concorde and my husband was driving to work and he said. Out of nowhere it don't wanna go until you get to 5000 rpms. He checked the trany fluid and it was barley on the dip stick so he walked to the store and got 2 qts put them it and started it and he said it reads full. I told him to cycle the gears and he said now it will engage at 2500 rpms but thats it. Is the transmition blown or is there something else it could be?

Make sure it is up to the full level, and wait until it cools off-remove the battery terminals (both) and let it sit for a few (more than 5) minutes-the computer will reset and hopefully, the adaptive capabilities will return it to normal. Chrysler trans are weird like that, but running low on fluid is almost always terminal for any automatic trans.

Check the throttle cable for incorrect adjustment with the A/C turned off. Adjust cable to obtain 850 rpms. The A/C on will increase idle speed, which is a normal function. Check the speedo cable for correct connection at the back of the transmission case. make sure hand tight at the drive.

I was told by a Chrysler tech that it's the shift solenoid located in the trans. pan. There are 4 of them and you have to have it checked to see which one. You don't want to replace all 4. About $80.00 at a dealer! Mine does the same thing. 2004 Concorde lxi.

RPMS AND CHECK ENGINE LIGHT

more than likely it could be a crank postion sensor but more than likely the tranny is slipping or having torque converter failure.
