If it's the same as the 1995 lexus, you go through the trunk.

Unscrew the bolts that are holding the brake lights in place through the holes in the apolstry in the trunk. The light should come loose and from there find which wire goes to the bulb that's out. Unscrew the piece, pull the bulb out, and replace.

I have a Lexus RX300 1999 model and have this recent problem. engine running normally but gear gets stuck in Parking mode and won't shift. had to depress the emergency button on the gear shift and

Hi there,

Some automatic vehicles rely on the brake switch (mounted on brake pedal) to be activated by depressing brake pedal. This signal then operates a relay and switch, to release the gear lever.

Firstly, I would check the brake pedal switch (are your brake lights working?).

If brake switch is confirmed OK, then inspect the relay (and related circuit components) of the gear release switch.

it's in the driver side of the luggage compartment, behind the panel that has the power outlet. You would need to remove the trim panel and follow the harness to get to it. Most of the time it's Gray color.

I have a 1999 rx300 lexus,my brake lights are out, i went to the dealer without the car and asked them about it they said it may be a sensor. Could it be a fuse or brake switch instead?

Actually it is most likely either both bulbs burned out (you would be surprised how often then happens!) unless you have a light monitor on your car, or a brake switch or a fuse. Fuse first (and need to find the reason it blew), bulbs second, switch third

Brake lights dont work changed bulbs , fuse , and stop light switch any ideas

Check to see if you are getting power to the fuse, Next check the power going to the brake switch. After you check for the power going into each location, and you find the one that's not getting the power, you may have a bad wire, also check to see if the brake switch is set up right to depress when applying brakes.

Replace brake light bulb 1999 lexus es300

The outside brake light bulbs are changed by removing the entire light module from the body. The module is held in place by two screws hidden by round plastic covers that pop out with a small screw driver. You will see the two round screw covers along the rubber moulding when you open the rear hatch. The outside edge of the module is plugged into the body with plastic prongs that will pop loose will you pull the module with your hands. The module will now only be attached by the slack bulb wires and you can twist the socket out of the module from the back.

If it a picture of rear of car lights it means you have a rear bulb out. If the light says BRAKE your emergency brake may be depressed one notch or low fluid level in master cylinder.

I have a gs 400 lexus, the rear warning light lamp comes on when i depress the brake. I replaced the brake bulbs , every lamp seems to operate well.

some brands of bulbs have too much resistance and will cause the light to come on or you still have a bulb out .
