Thermostat location 1995 jeep grand cher. straight 6

I need to change a thermostat and am not sure of location. I think I have to trace the hose from the radiator to the housing connected to the engine but I want to make sure.

I need to take out my thermostat. It is a 95 Jeep Cherokee limited V8. I'm not positive of what I'm looking for. I don't know what a thermostat housing looks like. Can anyone give me a detailed explanation of how to find and remove the thermostat?

Thermostat is located on 4.0L I-6 on front cylinder head. The 3.7L V-6 thermostat is located where the lower radiator hose attaches to engine. The 4.7L V-8 thermostat is located where the lower radiator hose attaches to engine. The 5.7L V-8 thermostat is located where the upper radiator hose attaches to engine. The 3.9L V-6 and 5.9L V-8 Thermostat is located on front top of intake manfold (between alternator and ac compressor)

Hey there doorkicker,

Exactly right.

The upper radiator hose is connected to the Thermostat Housing. Remove the housing, it will be right there. It's always good to check.

My coolant sensor is bad on 1998 Jeep Grand Cher Laredo TSI V8 5.2 4X4 is flashing in control panel.

Trace the upper radiator hose toward the Grand Cherokee's engine until you reach the metal component connecting the hose to the engine -- this is the thermostat housing. Find the coolant temperature sensor -- the electrical component on the thermostat housing. Press the locking button on the coolant temperature sensor wiring harness and pull the wiring harness from the sensor, then remove sensor it screws out. when putting in new sensor coat the threads with teflon pipe thread tape so there is no leaks.

Engine was overheating need to know if a tube is supposed to go from the radiator to the engine coolant

you should have one upper radiator hose, one lower radiator hose, a small diameter hose that runs over the top of your radiator starting from the radiator cap going left across the top and then to your coolant reservoir and another from your thermostat housing to the firewall for the heater core the upper radiator hose should also go to your thermostat housing. the lower radiator hose goes to your water pump This hose routing is only for a 4 liter straight 6 I'm not sure about the V8 or the 2.5 liter motors

2003 Grand Cherokee Overheating

This might help you as it looks as though you have an electric fan to cool , there should be a sensor on your radiator hoses upper and lower.they are actually switches triggered by the coolant temperature in side the hose. While your Jeep is sitting idle, shut off the AC as it adds to the heat off the engine not to merntion useing more gas. you should make sure both high and low speeds on the coolant fan work. good luck if this does'nt help check out the post, with more, on the 1995 Jeep heating up..

How easy is it to replace the radiator a 02 jeep grand cher. 6 cy

I have tons of experience...for me, its about a 2. If you have little experience, about a 6 (on scale of 1-10) if you get a manual to give you some guidance, it should not be a terrible job, but may take a while. Always use flair nut wrenches on trans line fittings, Check fasteners before you start...some may be torks head and lots of people don't have them on hand (available wherever tools are sold)
Take care not to damage core of unit when removing or replacing.
Any technical questions along the way, just ask!!!

Problems

You should be able to locate it by following the upper radiator hose to the engine, where the hose is clamped to a housing. Remove the clamp, remove the hose, remove 2 bolts attaching the housing to engine, inside is the thermostat. Clean off gasket from surfaces, replace- make sure the thermostat is facing the correct direction, or car will overheat. If u can't locate it w/ these directions, let me know. Good Luck!
