Clicking noise My engine is making a clicking noise when driving and my oil light has been on for a few days constantly now. I have oil - it's been checked. A friend looked at it and said it sounds like the lifters...? What does that mean and what am I looking at to fix it? 1999 Toyota RAV4 103K miles

Oil light comes on and is dinging.

The oil light has nothing to do will oil level, but rather oil PRESSURE. If the engine oil is full and there is no rattling or banging noises in the engine, chances are the oil pressure sending unit is bad. If noises accompany the light, then shut down the engine and troubleshooting the engines internal lubrication system.

Tapping/ticking noise when rpm goes above 2000 with check oil warning on my chevrolet lumina ls 2005 model

You will have to take an oil pressure reading and compare to specifications. It could be that the pick up screen is plugged. Do not drive the car as damage to engine will occur.

My car is making a clicking noise in the front near the belt, and the check engine light came on. what could this be?

Clicking noise could be a sticking lifter or a rod knock both of which can be caused by loss of oil flow to critical engine parts requiring constant lubrication to minimize friction. Do not drive the car any further until you can get it into a shop to have it checked out and repaired otherwise you run the risk of starving the engine of oil and causing a catastrophic failure requiring a major rebuild or a new engine both of which can run into the thousands of dollars.

ok please make sure you have 12v at the battery, if you do legts move to the starter, check for proper operation, check all fuse and relays, check to make sure the head is blown, to do this look at the engine dipstick, check for a brownist mixture

I have an 03 nissan altima engine makes loud clicking noise

1st check the the oil level and the vehicle's oil type.(owners manuel) 5w30-10w30
10w 30 is a thicker oil and could possibly be causing this.(Moves more freely through the engine heats the oil)

Smoke coming out from the middle of the two rear tires right? Sound like your rear differential is out of lubricant. Leftover lubricant is probably getting burned by heat from the friction. Have your rear differential lubed up.

your problem is more than likely one of a few problems
there are two hoses on your transfer case one sucks in one blows out if one gets cloged it will go out completly so have it checked its starting.
or check the oil in the transfer case

89 Nissan Sentra making a trrrrrr noise

sounds like a case of closing the horse after the barn ran away...Pretty good chance that you have lost an engine bearing (yes, that means it's new engine time)
To avoid this in the future regard your oil light as a "you just blew your engine" light. Check your oil at least every two weeks, and this will never happen again (not for lack of oil anyway!!!)

Ran out of oil!

if there is no oil puddles beneath the vehicle the only place it can go is into the cylinders and it get's burned. considering that you did not mention a big blue cloud of smoke while the engine is running tells me that it's not getting burned up. your engine holds 4 1/2 quarts so that is alot of oil to loose on a vehicle not that old. my advice would be to take it to a shop and have the engine checked this appears to be a major mechanical problem and should be dealt with fast before the engine seizes up and more damage can occure.
