There is one vacume hose that goes to the back of the intake right near the fire wall and it has a 90 rubber elbow that can rot out and give you a leak check it out that might be it, also i have replaced a couple of computers in these

I would recommend that you replace the TPS (throttle position sensor), as it will cause this issue. You might try cleaning the throttle body itself, if the butterfly is corroded, or the throttle body is dirty it can cause this as well. I had one doing the same thing, and yesterday I used a can of throttle body cleaner and it cured it.

Some times my 1984 ford f150 idels fine when its in park(some times)but when i put it in drive or reverse idel drops about 500 or so rpm sputters for a little bit and then dies. Some times it runs fine...

In general, yes. This is a carb tuning issue. Another possibility is a vacuum leak somewhere, but most likely, it's a carb issue. You'll typically see your rpm drop a bit when you put it in gear, but that it sometimes stalls out points to a carb issue.

I have a 96 explorer that needs a tune up and regular maintence very bad, but my question is that is idels normal at 1000 rpm, then goes low to 500 rpm, then straight back up. it is a constant up and down...

The tune up may fix the problem. If it doesnt it may be the throttle position sensor. Tune it up run some good fuel injection cleaner thru it. If it still does it, drive it to autozone, or advanced auto or whatever place you have near you that is like them, and they can hook a code scanner up to it for free. And we will go from there.

88 dodge ram charger 5.2 ltr engine....intermittant spark

I have a 1988 dodge ram charger with a 318 motor with throttle body. It runs really good when I start it up and drive it for about a half of an hour.
But after that when I step on the throttle a little bit, it hesitates. If I let off a little bit, it will go or if I really step on it, it will go also, but if I just hold it there, it really hesitates If I stop, the idle jumps up and down so much it causes itself to stall. It seems to only do this at low RPM's. If the RPM's are higher it's fine

Ideling up and dowen from 1000 rpm to 2000 rpm

Check your air inlet and vacuum hoses for leaks. Make sure the connections are tight. Normally it will be an unmetered air problem.
