Question about 1996 Audi A4
I have a audi 2.8 v6 automatic 1996. I cannot get reverse gear on the car. If I put the car in drive it holds back before it goes to the front. The gear indicators on the dashbaord are all lit up. Don't know which gear I am in. Please help.
Change the Transmission filter and flush the fluid in it, I'd be willing to be the factory filter is still in these trannys and it's about clogged up, gettin worse once the fluid heats up. The pump won't build enough pressure to allow it to act properly.

I have an 1998 A4 with the same problem. The specialist mechanic guessed that I was passed thru water in the street. I was wonder about that because I did not realize about the relationship bettwen water and transmission. He told me that this problem is common in Audi 1996 thru 2001 and VW Passat 1998 thru 2002. They have a sensor detail in the transmission that fails when get water. We need to wait to get dry. He lift up the car and use air gun to dry it.
Hope this helps.
