Question about 1993 Toyota Celica

1 Answer

Please help! I have a 1993 Celica and my brake lights don't work. It's not a fuse problem and we tried a new brake switch that didn't work either. It's also not the bulbs b/c they were replaced as well. The problem started with a trailer connection (fior a UHaul) the previous owner installed that shorted out my tail lights, blinkers and brake lights. The tail lights and blinkers are working again. If anyone has any suggestions (aside from taking it to the dealer b/c that is way out of my budget right now!), I will greatly appreciate it!! Thank you!!!

Sounds like the wire for your brakelights is broken.Probably close to the trailer connection.Use a testlight and trace it down.

My driver side brake lights went out. I replaced the blubs and the running lights work plus the passenger brake lights work. so I am lost

Its your turn signal switch in the steering colum. just pull your steering wheel and then the switch. I didn,t want to pay $80 for a new one, so I fixed it with bondo! That was about a year ago...still working fine.

Brake and tailgate sometimes works

Since tail lights are not part of the brake switch, I wouldn't think so. This sounds more like a bad fuse or some other fault. Do either of the turn signals work? Are the turn signals a part of the brake lights or are they independent?

I have a 1993 honda accord i just recently lost my brake lights i put in a new brake light switch and all of my brake lights started working except my right brake lights? please help

If you don't have power to the right brake light when the switch is engaged, I would check the turn signal switch. On some models the brake circuit goes thru the turn signal switch. Also be sure and check the ground connection on the bulb socket.

Brake lights not working,

Assuming the wiring to the brake lights is serviceable, you will find that the brake light switch, which is activated by the brake pedal for the brake lights, will have failed and will need to be replaced.

Just ensure you first replace the fuse and both brake light bulbs as an initial step and then re-check to ensure you still have no lights.
