1995 Auroras have a potential, under the hood, fire problem. the fuel rail (transfers fuel to the injectors) can split and spray gas on your hot engine. There is a recall to correct this problem at no cost to you. Follow-up on this recall, even if you do not have a gas smell problem. IT IS VERY DANGEROUS and the fix is no cost to you. The dealership even towed my car. It was too dangerous to drive.

1995 Olds Aurora:Idles at around 3000 when starting and something hot and is glowing at back bottom of the engine

this is your catalytic ocnvertor. what this is telling you is that the convertor is plugged and you need to have a new one welded on. if you continue to drive it like this, first you can do severe engine damage like burned exhaust valves and second you can cause a fire.

Order a new speed sensor and make sure that you heed the recall notice for a fuel line defect that WILL start an engine fire eventually. Mine burned.
