Question about 1993 Buick Century

Radio power will not stay on

The power button to the radio stays pushed on at all times. my radio will come on while driving down the road and may stay on for two or three days, sometimes not that long. then it will just go off (at lot of times it is when i shut the car off and when i turn it back on the radio power will not come on) - then next thing i know it will start working again - a friend put some kind of tester on it and he said it was showing dead (of course this was during the time the radio was not working) - but later that day, it popped back on again - is this a radio problem or a computer problem???? my car is a 1993 buick century presidential

the power switch to the radio is on the side of the radio - no switches to the radio on the steering wheel. the radio doesn't just go in and out like loosing signal, the power to the radio goes completely off and on even with the power switch pushed in.

Are these switches on the radio or the steering wheel??

Onstar was left on once and killed the battery. Jumped it and tester said battery was still good. Drained again over the course of a week and barely managed to start last night. Turn signals work but don't click and radio display is out.

Then you are saying the switches are part of radio? then the fault is with the radio, there is no computer that runs the radio. Pull the radio and send it out for repair through your local GM parts dept to a authorized GM repair facility, it is not user serviceable.

push on power knobs for radios are a two operation switch. push in to turn on and then push in to turn off. The switch is like a rocker switch in operation. the knob will not stay in once the radio is on as it has to be in an out position so that you can push it in again to turn it off.

I have the radio code ... what is the procedure ?

Okay, lets start with if you tryed entering the code and you did it three times the radio will lock so if you turn the key on and the radio and the screen says lock then you will need to unlock it, this is done by turning the key on and also the radio, this must stay for about one hour i recommend letting the car idle to avoid draining the battery, but radio must stay on for one hour and not in the acc postion so to avoid mistakes let car run, you will know its ready when you see ------ on display. if your radio is displaying--------- then you are not locked out and you can just enter the code, sit in seat and have your code from left to right you will enter the first to numbers using the radio seek button you will enter the first and second code, push the leftside of the seek and then push it to right side and you will see the code 3 change then for the next two numbers of the code you will do the same with the tune button when the code is displayed then push the am/fm button and radio will come on. good day

When I got the car, Starting it, I have to hold the gas down or it won't start. WHen I drive more than 15 miles at a time, the oil light flashes and beeps for days. (it's very annoying) Almost annoying...

Sounds like your cars alternator is bad. The injectors in the motor along with everything else (including the cars computer) needs a steady stream of power in order to function. The injectors work through magnets that open and close ports thus use electricity. the car could not run without power (alternator not charging the battery anymore). The oil light comes from the computer not receiving the correct power input so may start to glitch and alert you of things that are not happening. Usually when the battery dies all of the gauges will die and the radio will shut off. most power accessories will not be available. However, better safe then sorry. You should check your oil ;) Be safe! Thanks for asking! Glad I could help.

The interior lights stay on and the door ajar light is on when driving. the interior lights stay on when you shut off the car thus running the battery down. It happens about 70 percent of the time and when...

Find the lamp push button on each door.
Open one door, and only one door (or tailgate).
Push the lamp button IN at that door. If light goes out, then that particular push switch needs adjustment or replacement.
Cl;ose door and open another door. Push button IN.
Keep doing this until you find faulty door push button.

Which door was it?
