Question about 1993 Buick Century

Radio power will not stay on

The power button to the radio stays pushed on at all times. my radio will come on while driving down the road and may stay on for two or three days, sometimes not that long. then it will just go off (at lot of times it is when i shut the car off and when i turn it back on the radio power will not come on) - then next thing i know it will start working again - a friend put some kind of tester on it and he said it was showing dead (of course this was during the time the radio was not working) - but later that day, it popped back on again - is this a radio problem or a computer problem???? my car is a 1993 buick century presidential

the power switch to the radio is on the side of the radio - no switches to the radio on the steering wheel. the radio doesn't just go in and out like loosing signal, the power to the radio goes completely off and on even with the power switch pushed in.

Are these switches on the radio or the steering wheel??

Onstar was left on once and killed the battery. Jumped it and tester said battery was still good. Drained again over the course of a week and barely managed to start last night. Turn signals work but don't click and radio display is out.

Then you are saying the switches are part of radio? then the fault is with the radio, there is no computer that runs the radio. Pull the radio and send it out for repair through your local GM parts dept to a authorized GM repair facility, it is not user serviceable.

push on power knobs for radios are a two operation switch. push in to turn on and then push in to turn off. The switch is like a rocker switch in operation. the knob will not stay in once the radio is on as it has to be in an out position so that you can push it in again to turn it off.

The interior lights stay on and the door ajar light is on when driving. the interior lights stay on when you shut off the car thus running the battery down. It happens about 70 percent of the time and when...

Find the lamp push button on each door.
Open one door, and only one door (or tailgate).
Push the lamp button IN at that door. If light goes out, then that particular push switch needs adjustment or replacement.
Cl;ose door and open another door. Push button IN.
Keep doing this until you find faulty door push button.

Which door was it?

My power antenna won't go down when i turn off my car or my radio. i have a 1995 chevy impala ss

this is normal the power antenna gets power from the radio and unless the radio is shut off either from powering it down or turning off the car it will stay up. if it is an aftermarket stereo and is staying up when you are on cd's check to make sure that your antenna is hooked to the antenna output on the radio and not the system remote as the system remote is hot any time the radio is powered to run amplifiers.

04' Ford FreeStar - The Radio Stay On When Van Is Off

Nothing wrong with it. When you remove the key, it stays on for about 20 minutes. It gives you time to finish listening to your radio and roll up the window. Once the driver door is open, everything shuts off or if 20 minutes has passed.

Left of the two headlight buttons for headlights and parking, there is a vertical slider. It's labeled Twilight, meaning twilight sentinel that keeps the headlights on. Move it down and that shortens the on time to about 5 seconds. If you are sittting with the headlights on and want them to go off, push it to the bottom and it turns the lights off immediately. They will turn back on when the car is put into park.

Move the slider to the top and they should stay on for about 5 minutes. BTW if you just leave the headlight switch pushed in (if you're doing it manually) the car turns everything off in about 10 minutes--inside lights, radio, lights, cigarette lighter power (unless you moved the fuse in the underhood fuse block to make them stay on permanently).

You also may not know that if you are driving or sitting and want the headlights off but the parking lights to stay on, push the Parking LIghts button. That turns the headlights off. I didn't find that for a while because our 98 LeSabre didn't have any way to turn off the headlights while cruising through a Christmas display scene in a park where many people turn off the headlights to help the effect of the colored lights. Electrical issues with a 1997 Subaru Outback

I believe I can help with the clicking. The parking lights should be flashing Also. Whenever power is lost to the system IE the battery removed, The factory anti theft comes on. It is a small 4" x4" box hooked by steering column under dash. It has a red button you push for a few secounds and that should stop the clicking and flashing.
