My car was doing almost the same thing but I had a code that read 171 and it was the Coolant Thermostat Sensor that was changed. Hope this helps you.

Go to Autozone and ask them to read the engine code. There is no fee. If the car idles well and loses power when trying to accelerate then it may be the coil. Please post your results. Thanks.

Valves in 2003 ford focus SE 2.3L are loose...how do I fix them?

I doubt if the valves are loose or need adjustment as the engine should have hudraulic tappets which adjust automatically when the engine is running. I suggest that your friend take off the rocker cover and see if anything is out of place. As the engine is 10 years old it is possible that the tappets may be badly worn and not working properly hence the noise

There is probably a sensor failure or other fault. When the engine management light is on, the ECU goes into get you home mode. I suggtes scanned the PCM to know what fault code is stored there and (with this code number) we could send additional details.

Keep in touch.

1997 ford f150 5.4 auto 4x4 truck shutters and looses a lot of power after it warms up when stepping on the gas. Not all the time, mostly after it warms up, and the check engine light flashes?

A flashin check engine light usually means a bad misfire. Coils are a common problem but it may just need a tune up. a shop can scan it and pinpoint the problem.

Engine warning light , battery light, warning light , rev counter , speedo and temp gauge going on/off intermitantly and speedo not working on digital screen on ford focus can you help. the battery is new...

My 04 Ford Focus the battery light keeps coming on & going off, have fitted a new alternator belt but it didn't solve the problem. The battery connections are good. Also the rev counter, speedo & mileage clock keep going haywire when the battery light is on. Do you think it is the alternator? Or is it some other common problem?
