Question about 1999 Dodge Neon

I have a Plymouth, Neon 1997. The timing belt tensor was making loud noises. The mechanic replaced the tensor and the timing belt. But, now the car shakes when iddling. Once it gets moving the shaking will disappear. Please help, since our mechanic has given up already.

I think one of the marks is off when the belt was replaced..

A motor mount not installed correctly?Open the hood and put the emergency brake on,with someone looking at the motor put the car in drive,press on the brake and give a little gas---if the motor moves up the mount may be the issue.

If you didn't replace the belt at the same time, it is likely the belt that is causing the noise even if it "looks" ok, I'd suggest you replace it.

It sounds like you have a belt or pulley problem, or possibly a bad bearing in the alternator, or water pump. I would suggest, having it looked at, by a mechanic right away.

How do i reset the timing belt on a plymouth neon 2000...i have placed the timing belt on the car but i do not know how to set the timing belt back....

I have a 97' plymouth neon and it wont start, it turns over but wont start.


Sounds like a timing belt has broken. If you are lucky it has not done more damage. Best to hook up a code reader and see if it is reporting missing cam sensor. If it is, the timing belt is broken.

1997 dodge neon. replaced coolant temperature


1997 Plymouth Neon, have replaced radiator, radiation cap, thermostate and hoses, still run hot. Fans do not seem to come on, where is the temperature sensor on this vehicle?

AC Clutch engages for so long then lets go


you a/c cluch is getting ready to fall apart so it's time for new one....replace the a/c cluch...hope that help's and good luck

1997 plymouth neon, i can smell something burning after driving for a while. coolant fan not coming on. fuse seems to be ok.


it may be ur brakes or your fan moter is trying to turn and can so its melting the plastic on the moter i would get it looked at if i were u or just replace it all it not that expensive

Have you checked you fan belt in the car or it could be a pulley that needs replacing check and listen you may be able to tell which pulley it is
