I have a 2002 and having teh same problem. I spent about 2 hrs with Active Green Ross and we found out that the computer chip is software is shot. because we can turn it on from the diag tool but the chip would not do it automatically. Only GE can reload teh chip. I took it to Roy Foss, (GM Dist) and they just ignoring the issue and trying convince me it is the Air-Con need servicing. Just a pack of bull. It is a Chip issue and maybe some of us as GM owners need to take GM to task on teh issue. To many ppl havew the same problem and they are not addressing teh issue.

Better check to see if the water pump is leaking, or if the radiator hose has a leak or the radiator it self. Also, could be the thermistat sticking. Better get checked if not you'll be replacing the intake gaskets and the head gaskets. If it gets too hot the it could ruin the motor or warp the heads and that is very costly. If the heads get warped it is possible they can be fixed. Hope this helps.

to understand that, get in car, turn key to Igntion on, no start
see all those lamps glowing, it is a self test.

Not Overheating, Smells like really hot antifreeze after I drive, a/c ok heater heats but when stopped air gets cold...stummped..thermostat?, Leak?

check your hoses and make sure its not getting low because when it gets low the hoses can get hot enough to expand and spit out antifreeze without overheating

Overheating

WHEN CAR STARTING OVERHEATING MAKE SURE COOLANT LEVEL DIDNT GET TOO LOW. IF NOT I WOULD REPLACE THERMOSTAT AND RADIATOR PRESSURE CAP IF OVERHEATING WHILE SITTING IDLING COOLING FAN NOT COMING ON.CHECK COOLING FAN FUSE AND RELAY IF ALL IS GOOD.CHECK COOLING BY HOTWIRING IT.IF RUNS YOU HAVE A BAD COOLANT TEMPERATURE SENSOR OR FAULT IN WIRE CIRCUIT.IF FAN DONT RUN WHEN HOTWIRED REPLACE FAN MOTOR.IF CAR STILL KEEP OVERHEATING CHECK ENGINE OIL LOOKS LIKE MILK BLOWN HEAD GASKET.IF OIL LOOKS OKAY YOU NEED RADIATOR AND ENGINE FLUSHED OUT.

Overheating, no heat.

Sounds like you've got either a cracked head or blown head gasket now; this will give you your poor performance. As for what caused the overheating in the first place; you need to check out. Water pumps commonly go out, allowing the antifreeze to leak out, causing your overheating, or even heater cores. Once you got it hot, it warps the head, and blows the head gasket. More than likely, you also have white smoke coming from the exhaust, especially when you first start it for the day. The biggest worry, is if your head is warped too much, and if you have excess blow-by from the piston rings losing their strength from getting too hot.
