I would check for proper fuel pressure. Sounds like your pump might be on its way out. For a TBI engine you should have around 10PSI at the throttle body.
so ran fine for 2 days
id bet it didnt have only 1 gallon there.
or did you run it dry again.?
the pump is fuel lubricated and cooled
ran dry invites wrecking a good pump.
First sign of pump going bad when it is being filled fuel swirls the dirt around in the tank and when you go to start it it is hard. after the pump is running it runs fine til the next time.
It could be vapor locking if you drive for a while then it acts like it is running out of gas. this is caused by the fuel vaporizing before it gets to te carburator. Check the fuel lines for placement close to a heat source like the exaust, Also, the problem could be the fuel pump, you can have a pressure check done to see if the pressure is up to specks.
1. Fill gas tank
2. Record odometer reading
3. Drive car as usual until 1/4 full.
4. Fill gas tank and record how many gallons it took to fill it again.
5. Record new odometer reading and subtract original reading.
6. Divide miles driven by gallons used.
I would think the sender unit is not recording the correct amount of fuel left in tank , have an OBD check done and see if you get any codes to help narrow down the problem
YOU COULD HAVE DIRTY CLOGGED FUEL INJECTORS.OR WEAK COIL.LOW COMPRESSION CYLINDERS.TRY CLEANING FUEL INJECTORS.BY FILLING GAS TANK UP.THEN PUT A BOTTLE OF FUEL INJECTION CLEANER IN GAS TANK DRIVE CAR AROUND SO CLEANER CAN CLEAN OUT INJECTORS.CHANGE FUEL FILTER.CHECK ALL VACUUM HOSES.ALSO HAVE IGNITION TIMING CHECKED.
Check to see the condition of the spark ur getting from the distributor. If it is not sufficient, let an auto-electrician look at ur distributor
Are u certain fuel is being reached to the cylinders. If not check to see if there's a fuel blockage or any other reason that might casue the fuel to not reach the cylinder.
If the timing belt has severed, the camshaft will not be able to turn inorder for fuel to be entered into the cylinder. I doubt this might be the problem though.
