There is a pressure switch in clutch circuit at filter drier, if gas charge becomes low clutch will cut out.

What is the pressure in your low pressure side at 80 degrees ambient? Did you use gauges?
U said the clutch will not stay engaged, meaning that it engages and then releases. If so, that means the clutch winding is good but that perhaps you have a loose wire feeding the clutch or a bad, intermittent relay. And if that is not the case then you are LOW in freon and the low pressure cut off switch is disconnecting the clutch when the pressure goes down. Pressure should be around 35 pounds on suction line at about 3000 rpm.

Sounds like an internal clutch/pressure plate issue. Possible broken torsional vibration spring in the clutch assembly keeping clutch engaged. The transmission will have to be removed and clutch inspected/replaced.

Clutch on compressor wont stay engaged. presure checks out fine


Sometimes its a faulty relay, sometimes its the magnet in the clutch.
Are you getting a steady power to the clutch ?

Compressor clutch engaged with heat selected on 2004 silverado


Sounds like a problem with the selector switch or the HVAC control module, or the PCM.
The PCM thru the control module grounds the compressor relay when the compressor is needed.

The clutch pedal sticks down when trying to engage


YOU DO NEED A NEW DISC AND MOST LIKELY A MASTER AND SLAVE HYDRAULIC CLUTCH CYLINDERS, THE STICKING MAY BE DUE TO OVER TRAVEL DUE TO THE WORN OUT DISK.

usually two types of clutches available,one engages with heat,the other is rpm controlled. The thermal clutch will stay quiet until the engine temp gets too high. Centrifical clutches seem to make more fan noise.
