Hello, had problems with the lectrics in my car for a while now. the reverse lights were once intermittent and now have just gone completely, and the same can be said for my fob, it locks and arms the alarm but wont unlock or disarm the alarm anymore, any idea? are these problems linked?

The reverse lights not working is just a coincedence and probably just the reverse light switch (Cheap to change) The remote`s on the keys are quite a common fault to go . You can usually tell if the buttons feel hard and do not click .

In the assembly in which the bulb is placed, there's a flat metal sensor that may be too far down. I had a similar problem -- when headlights were turned on, brake light didn't work. Weird.

It sounds stupid, but check the tail light sockets. My 5 series had all sorts of electrical problems and when I replaced defective tail light sockets, most of the problems disappeared.
