I have a 1985 Ford f-150 302 engine. It had sat for a while and when I cranked it the other day. What seemed to be oily water was pouring out of the back of the engine. After I shut it off and filled up the radiator, it didnt lose any water. BTW, before I cranked the engine it wasnt showing any oil. I added a quart to see how it ran and when I shut it off, it was wayyyy over full.

exactly where did the liquid come out of the back of the engine? and - was the vehicle parked on some steep incline or? was the hood covering the engine or was engine exposed to the outside environment? more details please..
    Best regards

It has set for probably 2 years or so. I decided to get it cranked. I thought I had got all the gas out of the tank, the gas had a very old smell.
The hood has been down on the truck, but it had been parked on a incline the whole time it sat. When I pulled the oil stick it showed no oil. So I added a quart. We poured a bit of fuel in the carb and rolled it off the hill. It sat and idled fine. When I pulled up the hood to see if the carb was leaking, there was I suspect oil or water coming out of the rear of the engine. The truck was parked on level ground at this time so I checked the oil and it was over full. The funny thing about it is, it hadnt lost that much water out of the radiator. Before I cranked it, I could see the water/ anti.

How long did it set? If it got to much oil, that can cause problems. If it set for awhile, your fuel may be no good.

Seems like you have more then one problem there. Do you know exactly where the oil/water mixture is coming from?

  • Anonymous Mar 07, 2011

I am going to try and check tomorrow if it isnt raining. Ill know more then. I just cant understand why the truck was running so well? I thought perhaps a freeze plug. But that wouldnt have filled my oil pan. One thing about the truck. It did have a bad back main seal when I parked it. It also didnt have the flange that is between the flywheel and the starter. Mostly due to how many times I have had to take the starter off and on. I first thought when I saw it leakking that it was water that had built up in the bell housing due to no flange.
Thanks for everyone who has answered!

1995 toyota tacoma made a noise when i started it and is now pouring smoke from the exhaust.

Smoke pouring from the exhaust means that there is oil getting into the combustion chamber and is being partially burnt. Overheating engine means something is making the engine work extra hard. I suspect a broken ring Probably an oil ring. Pull the plugs and look for an oily plug and you will know which cylinder has the problem

Motor got frozen and no water in radiator no spark but water seaping around distribator

If you mean frozen as in, the engine is locked up due to water rusting it together, you're in for a LONG hard process. I'd order a good 12-pack of Aerokroil from Kano Labs, and ~2 gallons of it Kroil with graphite. Dump contents of the oil pan, and make sure it's all cleaned out (leave the drain plug out, pour kerosene/diesel down the oil filler, let it run out, should clean it out by the time you get 1/2 gallon). Put the plug back in, pour in the kroil. Pull out the spark plugs, and spray each spark plug liberally (With a full can) of AeroKroil. Now, on the crank snout, most likely the main pulley, there will be a bolt. Get a socket to fit that bolt, and then get a long ol' cheater bar, put the socket on the ratchet, and every day spend 20-30 minutes man handling that cheater bar. The rest of the time, put a bungee on it to keep some pressure.

R & r info. on front seal and crankshaft seal. Car is leaking lots of oil up to two quarts per day

Front crank shaft oil seal is located behind the crank shaft pulley (A.K.A. the harmonic balancer). If you look from under the car at the bottom pulley on the engine. It will be very wet and oily. This is not an easy job to replace the seal for the inexperienced.

Water/Coolant pours out of engine as soon as I put it in.

It has popped the freeze plugs out and you won't know the extent of the damage it has made till you replace the freeze plugs. You never i mean never pour water into a vehicle around time for freezing weather
