Please help! I've got a 94 GMC Jimmy 4.3 Votec manual trans. 2wheel drive. a couple of minutes after starting it up. it will only idle if you give it gas it will sputter and die. i looked into the throttle body while given it some gas and the flow from the injectors stops when you accelerate. theres also a strong odor of gas fumes or exhaust. thanks, joe

    Hi Jeb.

    Possibly a bad EGR valve.
Undo the vacuum hose to it... if it cures your problem, replace the EGR valve.

Can a 2 wheel drive oil filter for a gmc jimmy work on a 4 wheel drive gmc jimmy?

I would use recommended filter pressure could be different and could possibly cause an issue not to mention filter media area coverage imo.

Why would my 96 gmc jimmy shoot transmission fluid out where dipstick is when it's cold... Smokes alot

you have way too much fluid in trans !!!!!!!!!!!! remove trans pan, drain out fluid, replace gasket and filter, put in (4 quarts) fluid. MAYBE ! DONOT OVERFILL !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! DONOT DRIVE UNTIL YOU DO THIS !!! NOW, START ENGINE, LET IT WARM UP, CHECK FLUID LEVEL, IF ITS TOUCHING THE DIPSTICK TAKE VAN FOR A SHORT RIDE, AROUND THE NEIGHBORHOOD, (5-10) MINUTES, THEN , WHILE ON THE LEVEL, RECHECK FLUID LEVEL, 3 TIMES, WIPING OFF THE STICK EACH TIME, YOU WANT TO SEE THE FLUID LEVEL IN THE MIDDLE OF THE "HOT" CROSSHATCHED AREA OF DIPSTICK ! IF THATS WHERE IT IS, CONGRADULATE YOURSELF, YOU ACTUALLY DID IT RIGHT !!! LEAVE IT ALONE, GO ON YOUR WAY. NOW, IF YOU NEED TO ADD FLUID, USE YOUR FUNNEL, ADD ONLY A SHOT GLASS @ A TIME ! DO YOU HEAR ME ????? A SHOT GLASS @ A TIME, NO MORE, NO LESS. EVERYTIME YOU PULL DIP STICK OUT, WIPE IT OFF, WIPE IT OFF, WIPE IT OFF !!! MAKE SURE YOU RESEAT STICK ALL THE WAY IN ! REMEMBER, THE ENGINE MUST BE @ NORMAL RUNNING TEMPERATURE, WITH GEAR SHIFT IN PARK, ENGINE RUNNING !

My 1997 Jimmy runs fine in idle when I take off the vechile is fine until it reaches 20 mph it won't accelerate and the rpms increase up to 3000 but no speed. What's wrong it's a 4 wheel d

Sounds like 2nd gear in the transmission is slipping. Cars usually shift at 15-20 mph from first to 2nd. First check the trans fluid.

How to flush a transmission fluid on a 98 gmc jimmy

I would not recommend flushing trans fluid you risk
getting debris into the solenoids

You will get people telling you other wise

I just remove the pan clean it & refill

If a trans is old it may slip if get all the fluid out
by flushing

You drive a couple weeks then if it is okey you
drop the pan & change it again & that time change
the filter

I did once own a trans repair shop, I'm giving you
my opinion on 48 years personal experience, not
as a former business owner.

You change trans & power steering every 3 years
& never go over 30,000 miles on any vehicle

Use the correct fluids & NO ADDITIVES

2001 jimmy stuck in 4wd low

Usually when a truck gets stuck in 4 low you need to put it in reverse, start backing up very slowly, put it in neutral (or push in the clutch on manual trans models) and stop the truck with the brakes. this will release the load on the gearing which should allow you to shift out of 4 low.
