Question about 2000 Ford Focus

1 Answer

Car would not start. No lights, radio, etc. Was able to jimp car and let charge for a few minutes. Was able to move car for a few yards and then car just died. Recharged again and moved car a few yards and car died again. I noticed on the first charge, then my gas gauge was empty when I had filled up the car. I noticed as I continued the first charge, that the gauge started to move up towards "F". I seem to think the problem is more than a dead battery, because the car just died once I got it on the road (2x)

Car keeps dying

Try replacing your battery as it sounds like your battery is not holding charge. When you get a boost from other car your using the other cars power to start yours. It only takes a little power to light dash lights etc but takes a LOT of power to start motor.

could be a sign that the computer is failing-though they usually are durable--try disconnecting batt a few minutes and see if it clears and chec for any wiring flaws--get vehicle scanned also--reprogramming a computer should be done before buying a new one

POSSIBLE CAUSE BATTERY CABLES COULD BE LOOSE OR CORRODED OR BAD GROUND CABLE.YOUR STARTER SOLENOID OR STARTER IS FAULTY.YOUR CAR COULD BE IN THEFT DETERENT MODE.ALSO CHECK IGNITION FUSE TO MAKE SURE THE IGNITION SWITCH IS GETTING POWER.BECAUSE A BAD IGNITION SWITCH WILL CAUSE NO START PROBLEMS.

My car doesn't start

The out-of-gas/added-gas bit is coincidental. You've lost charging, and so you're only driving on what charge is in the battery. That's why it won't start without a boost, and (since the battery isn't made to drive the car, just start it) why it dies after a few minutes.

If you're lucky, it's just that the alternator belt is broken or slipping. If the belt is in good shape, then your alternator has failed, possibly because your voltage regulator has failed.

You're probably looking at $300-$500 for a rebuilt alternator installation.

Good luck!

Daewoo lanos 2000 radio codes

your code for your radio should be in the back of your car manual, on a tear out section. Usually if its not there it will be retained by the car yard that first sold it, or the car yard that first serviced it. Try them first, otherwise if they cant help or you dont have the manual, it may be a better option to get a 20 dollar stereo off ebay and self install as the stereo code was unique to the vehicle. However if you have time you could start at 0001 and work your way through every possibility, 0002, 0003 etc etc. I once found my one in a 99 pulsar that way, as the original seller wanted to charge a rediculous amount for the code that they ripped out of my manual and kept. Hope this helps.

If the car is dead, it should not make a sound, this is normal for dead things. Get a live one.
