My headlight on the drivers side turned a bright pink color but is not out. Is it the bulb or a ballast problem?

    Any suggestions?

My 2004 V8 Touareg has gone through one set of tires at about 36,000 miles (and needs new ones coming up soon), one full right headlamp clip assembly, and had to fix a slight leak around the top of the transmission that was seen during my 60,000 mile service. I had two BMWs in the past and had to replace brakes at ~48,000 miles. I currently have 68,000 miles and the brakes seem to be good so far. How much was the estimates for work on the front and rear brake replacements? Our VW dealer in this area has been notoriously bad on service turnaround and keeping your vehicle for a long time to get resolved when issues are encountered.

Can anyone give me more detail on the octagon screw. I am trying to replace the low beam on the passenger side, it has the air filter assembly packed in behind it. I need some help removing the headlamp assembly to change the bulb.

Once you turn the octagon screw to release the light and push it forward or out of the front of the vehicle, take a light and look to the left side if your working on the driver side or the right side if your working on the passenger side and you will see a metal tab release. Take a long flat head screw driver and press down toward the ground gently. The headlight will be released and the whole assembly comes out as it has a plug/electrical connection on the back of the assembly. I just replaced my headlights, I have a 2004 Touareg with 44,000 miles and have already gone through 2 sets of headlights. The VW dealer will want $300.00 to replace 1 side! They have lost their minds. How long have you had yours and what engine do you have? Just curious if you have had any problems? My Touareg has just needed tires, brakes, headlights. I have done the brakes as well. They want around $900.00 + for front plus about 8 for the rear. If you need anything just hollar and if you have any questions just let me know if I canhelp.

2006 Volkswagon Beetle, drivers side headlight, high beam not working

Instructions
    • Turn the headlight switch on and inspect the headlights. Make sure to check both low- and high-beam lights, and then note the position of the bulb in the headlight assembly. Low-beams are in the top cavity of the assembly and high-beams are in the lower cavity.
    • 2Turn off the headlight switch and then remove the keys from the ignition.
    • 3
    • Open the hood and locate the seam to the headlight assembly and the side fender. Locate the headlight assembly release lever and push in on it slightly to unlock it and then pull it all the way up until it stops.
    • 4Place a blanket or pillow on the ground in front of the headlight assembly. Push the assembly outward from behind with one hand while being ready to catch the assembly with the other. The New Beetles use an adhesive sealant to protect the back of the headlights from exposure to moisture, so you'll have to give the assembly a push from behind.
    • 5Pull the wire harness plugs off from both the high- and low-beam blades of the respective bulbs.
    • 6Place the assembly on the blanket or pillow. Release the wire clip to the faulty headlight and then remove the headlight bulb.
    • 7Open the package of the new H1 bulb replacement without touching the glass portion of the bulb with your bare skin. Oils in human skin will damage the bulb. Handle it only by the metal base of the bulb insert.
    • 8Insert the new bulb in the appropriate headlight-assembly cavity and reattach the bulb retaining clip to lock the bulb in place.
    • 9Lift the assembly up and plug the wire harness plugs back into the respective blades of the bulbs.
    • 10Push the headlight assembly into its cavity, but before locking it in place, check the lights by turning on the headlight switch.

I need to remove old broken passenger side headlight assembly and install new assembly in my 2004 Chevy Colorado crew cab. I need step by step instructions on how to do this myself.

I am not sure about the Colorado, but most vehicles about that age have a plastic clip. If you open the hood it is near the back of the headlight area and pulls straight up. You should be able to take these two clips off and the headlight will go straight forward, you can then twist the bulb holders out of the headlight assembly. Reverse procedure to install. Please rate my answer so I an awarded points for it.

Trying to change headlight bulb

Hello,

The 2004 grand prix pontiac houses 2 headlight bulbs per headlight assembly. The low beam headlight are located at the fender of the car and the high beam on the grill side of the assembly.

To replace the headlight bulb of Your pontiac grand prix, 2004 model. It is qiute technical and moderately easy to fix. There is no solution that cannot be done the DIY way, as long as You get the proper guide and You are technically able to do such works.
  1. Park the Grand Prix on a flat surface, apply the parking brake and ensure both the engine and headlight switches are off.
  2. Open the hood and approach the headlight assembly with the faulty headlight bulb.
  3. Locate the headlight assembly retaining clip. It's behind the headlight assembly on top on the fender side. Lift the clip upward halfway to release the headlight assembly.
  4. Pull the assembly out being careful not to scratch the paint on the fender or the lens of the assembly.
  5. Reach behind the assembly and disconnect the wire connection and plug from the headlight bulb socket.
  6. Turn the socket of the bulb counterclockwise 1/4-turn to remove the composite bulb from the assembly. Discard the bulb.
  7. Install the replacement bulb into the assembly (handling the plastic socket part only oil in skin will damage the glass bulb of halogen bulbs because of the intense heat they burn at), but ensure the tabs of the socket end of the bulb are aligned with the notches in the assembly before turning it clockwise and locking the bulb into place.
  8. Plug the wire connection back into the socket of the bulb before replacing the assembly back into place and pushing down on the retaining clip. Test the headlight bulb for operation before closing the hood.
Hope this was helpful. Thank You for using FixYa!!!

2003 escalade how to remove front bumper.

I just took this one on today. You'll need a flat head screw driver (a clip puller if you have one) a 15mm socket with a 10" extension and 10mm socket. Pop the hood, remove the plastic guard over the radiator and grill. Remove the 10mm bolt in the center of the grill. Remove the grill by popping the clips off each side then the grill will remove by pulling up. Remove the headlights by removing the two pins, one on top one on the inside of the lamp assembly. Remove 4, 15mm bolts from the top side of the bumper (2 upper, 2 lower that require the extension). From underneath the vehicle remove 2 more 15mm bolts (one from each side). The bolts are located just outside of the fog light assembly and sit horizontally. The bumper is now ready to be uncliped. From the inside of the wheel well use a Flathead screw driver to push in the clip while pulling the bumper away from the mounts. I used a large floor mat to keep the bumper from hitting the ground directly. It's helpful to have a second person to help on the last step.
Good Luck!

Changing headlights in 2004 VW New Beetle Convertible

  • Step 1 Open the hood of your Beetle and look between the first two fender-mounting bolts. Then, look down a few inches from there. There is a small knob, which is the release knob for the headlight-housing assembly.
  • Step 2 Push the release knob down and then all the way up as far as it will go.
  • Step 3 Push the headlight housing forward from the back of the housing.
  • Step 4 Unplug the headlight connector from the back of the headlight.
  • Step 5 Push down on the plastic tab on the back of the headlight housing and slide the black plastic cover down to reveal the headlight.
  • Step 6 Remove the spring clip from the back of the headlight by pulling it off with your fingers. The headlight bulb will come out of the back of the headlight housing when you do this.
  • Step 7 Install the new headlight bulb and replace the spring clip to secure the headlight to the housing. Installation of the removed components is the reverse of removal.

First face the vehicle so the battery in on the right.
    Second open hood.
Third Remove the Grill by pushing firmly on two retainer clips that are on the top, use the wide slot screwdriver to get the rest of the clips off. Pull up gently on the grill it should then pop out. The grill extends under each headlight assemblymag-glass_10x10.gif any other retainer clips should release when the grill in popped out.
  • Step 2 Fourth on top of the headlight assembly you will see one 1" tab on the right and left side, pull the tabs upward about two inches and this should release the headlight assembly. You then should be able to pull the headlight assembly out toward you.
  • Step 3 Finally at the back of the headlight assembly you will see two rubber caps one for low beam and one for high beam, the white base is for the low beam and the black base is for the high beam. Unsnap the wire harness from the bulb base, turn the bulb clockwise.

Replace the bulbs high beam on the outside and low beam on the inside.
