Fuse for taillights and dash lights keeps blowing

Mine just did the same exact thing last night. As soon as I put in a new fuse, it blew. I checked the wiring to the rear lights, and it looked fine. I was thinking of looking in the dash to see if it had to do with the console lights, maybe there is bad wire there. Anyone have any other suggestions?

You have a short in the that circuit, check the wiring going to the tail lights, this the most likely place for the wiring to get damaged. Look for frayed or otherwise damaged wires, does it blow as soon as you put the fuse in, or does it blow when you step on the brake pedal??

Its likely the switch / relay module, inside the plastic housing on the steering column. you can get the part at nissan dealer or maybe another parts store, and change it with a screwdriver.

fuses blow because of dead shorts or excess current draw
to blow a 15 amp fuse indicates a dead short
by disconnecting the rear lights , the problem is in something else you have replaced

My taillights, dash lights, and license plate lights fuse keeps blowing out why?s10 88 pickup

The dash lights should be on a different fuse from the parking lights.
You'll have to figure out which circuit, then check the lamp sockets and wiring for a short to ground.

Fuse keeps blowing to my dash guages in my 95 gmc sierra why?

have you recently installed a new radio ? I have knowen people to install radiosincorectly the dim wire behind the radio shows as a earth. however when you turn headlights on this becomes a positive. if you have wired this wire to your sterio this is whyyour dash lights & internal cab light etc keep blowing.. if your wondering why sterio still works is because its earthed through the aerial or mounting bolts.

My tail lights are not working, it keeps blowing my fuse.

1.Unplug your taillights at the sockets and the front running lights from sockets.
2. put in new fuse after unplugging taillights.
3 turn on taillights if fuse blows then the wiring is grounding out somewhere between the switch, fuse panel, and rear and or front parking lights.
4.If fuse does not blow then plug in one socket at a time keep rechecking fuse. when the fuse blows after plugging in a certain socket suspect that one to be bad and replace.

Dash lights, dimmer lights do not come on. dash is dark. I have checked fuse ( 7.5amp) looks ok. what else can I check?

Check the taillight fuse, too (15 amp fuse next to the 7.5A instrument panel fuse). If this fuse blows, the dash lights will go out, too. I don't know why they did that, but they did. The next step then is to find out why the taillight fuse blows. It has done this repeatedly on my mom's 2002 Century. Haven't found the short yet.

No taillights, no dash backlighting, no headlights-on chime; all other lights okay

The taillights are commonly connected to the dash light circuit ( so you can be aware when they do not work ).
Start with the fuse box. Read carefully for the correct fuse to change. Sometimes they have a strange name associated with them. Turn the lights off before you change the fuse otherwise they may blow even if the circuit is OK. If it blows again you need to look further to find a shorted wire. ( Most likely in the boot, near the taillights, a wire has been crushed or damaged.
