I had the same problem last week. The coil will still check good but will fail under a load. Remove it from the distributor and you will see a burn mark on it.
This means it was bad and must be replaced.
I hope this work for you.

James what can I do to check coils on ,2003 accord lx 2.4

Not James, but maybe I can help: Under the dash in the fuse/relay box is the ignition coil relay. This sends battery voltage on the black/white wire to all four coils. With key in on, all 4 coils should have power to them on this black/white wire. If no power, check fuse #2, a 15 amp fuse which sends power to the ignition coil relay, and on to the coils when the relay is energized by the ecu/pcm. Only thing else to cause spark is when the ecu/pcm sends a signal to the coil's Ignition Control Module (housed inside each coil assembly), which controls the primary circuit (the black/white wire), and causes high voltage to the spark plugs.

So check the black/white wire to the coils. If power there with key in on, check for spark at a spark plug when cranking the engine over. If power to coils but no spark, possibly a crankshaft position sensor or cam position sensor giving a bad signal to the ecu/pcm. Good luck.

No spark to plugs 1999 ford f150 4.6l

Click on the link.
Voltage for fuse 18 comes from, pcm power relay.
Terminal 30, load side of relay is fuse protected and hot all the time. If you unplug that relay and use jumper wire between terminal 30 and 87, fuse 18 should go hot. That should mean, the control side of relay has a problem, The control side needs voltage and ground.

How About the CPS Crank Shaft positioning sensor? otherwise Sounds Like( Im Not Sure what you are saying you replaced the ECM) Electronic Control Module) ? Or Electronic Control Unit? Otherwise Checking to make sure you have a good ground from the battery to the motor to firewall as well, also im pretty sure there is a switch in your fuse box for the ignition and fuel pump last but not least coil could be bad even though you have ohms and how many ohms?(ps you said you forced spark thru hooking strait up to positive you got little Spark when you did that? if you did sounds like ground or low voltage or Bad Coil !! have you hooked up and tried to pull a code ? I hope this helps!!

Jeep wont start.Have replaced ecu, coil, crankshaft sensor and wiring harness.Still no power to coil i have 1991 jeep wrangler 2.5 manual 4x4

Check the wiring going to the coil. If you installed an alarm on that vehicle disconnect the main power wire to the alarm to disable the ignition kill circuit. Locate the ignition relay located on the drivers side fender wall or in the power distribution box under the hood and test it. finally, there is a fuse on the interior fuse panel that will give you this condition. I do not have the exact location so check all fuses in the panel and replace any blown fuses.

I have a 1967 malibu and I am not getting fire to the distributor.

try this: turn key on, momentarily jump negative coil terminal to ground to see if coil will release a spark. If no spark, use a test light to check for voltage at positive coil terminal. If there is voltage, replace the coil. If no voltage, suspect ignition switch or fuse.
If coil releases spark, check breaker points operation. If points ok, replace condenser.

If you have questions, please let me know.

Turns over but wont start 2002 nissan altima

begin troubleshoot your car to the fuel system, does the fuel goes to fuel rail, check the fuel pressure, does it pressurized? if no pressure check the fuel pump or fuel itslf, check the fuse of injectors and coils, also the coil ground, if all ok, try to remove one spark plug wire and observe the high voltage drop while crunking the engine, if spark is ok and fuel is ok, it engine timing problem, if no spark check ignition system voltage on and grounding, if voltage ok, but no spark, check the crankshop position sensor and camshaft sensor.

I had the same problem recently but replacing the ignition Coil under the distributor (inside) solved the problem. Also replaced the distributor Cap and rotor at the same time.
