This acts and sounds suspiciously like a blown head gasket. You can't fix it if it is. I suggest you check your oil for water (pull the dip stick, is the oil milky white?). Get your car to your mechanic as soon as you reasonably can before you cause much more damage if this is a blown head gasket.

White smoke is usually a indicator that you a leaking coolant into your cylinders. you may need a new set of head gaskets or you may have a cracked head.
I have the same problem but there is oil in my radiator reservoir.
Oil in the water and /or water in the oil ... more or less a universal indicator of blown head gasket or cracked head, as is steam anr/or white smoke coming from the exhaust pipe. This is very serious and you must get immediate assistance to avoid more seriously damaging your engie.
1999 montero sport 3.0 you guys may need to go no further then intake manifold they leak water.they easily get warped. and doesnt seat properly. check plugs first to see whats going on. hope this helps.
