Use the link below for the Tech Service Bulletin which addresses this problem. It lists the procedure and parts that you will need to repair the seat.

You need a power seat slide kit which is a new fore and aft motor and linkages in one kit. Common on Pathys and Maxis.

I fixed the problem w/out much effort. I used the online manual on the Nissan website to locate the problem motor and hit it with a monkey wrench. It has been working ever since.

Depending upon the size of the "something", it could be under the seat or under the console. To get the seat working, go to the UNDER-HOOD FUSE/RELAY BOX and check 20A POWER SEAT FUSE 27. While you are at it, check 20A POWER SEAT HEIGHT FUSE 31.

2000 alero power seat stuck

The gear assembly attached to the motor is stripped/broken. The least expensive solution is to go the junk yard and buy a motorized seat for your model. If you go the dealer for the motor assembly it is sold as a complete assembly with the bottom seat frame. Cost is over $300 . Once you've replaced/repaired the seat, I'd recommend that you do not raise or lower the seat while sitting on it. I had to replace mine twice.

Driver side power seat front to back motor stuck forward

Take apart the drive box in front of seat track, on both sides with an allen wrench. You can then push the seat to get at the bolts to remove it. My trolley drive motor had bad brushes. I am now looking to replace the motor, if I can find the replacement.
