OBDII light stays on. It does not blink. I went through some rough ruts and mud on the last hunting trip. The light came on the next day.

How to reset check engine light?

Go to your local O'Rielly's or Autozone. They will tell you the code and reset it for free. Otherwise take the negative battery cable loose for about 10 min. This will clear the ECM, but you won't know what tripped the light! Best Wishes, TJ

My check engine light came on and i dont know what the problem is. It jus had a recent oil change and runs great. I tightened my gas cap to see if that was the problem but the light is still on.What else...

When the check engine light comes on the computer has detected a problem. there are too many things that can make the light come on to make a guess on the internet. You need an OBD II scanner to retrieve the code(s) and that will allow you to make a repair decision. In some areas your auto parts store will read the codes for free.

Just want to reset the check engine light. disconnect battery...turn lights on and off.....remove a fuse....please help. thanks jennifer

You would have to use a OBDII scanner to clear the light. There is a connector under the driverside of the dash to connect the scanner to. If a problem exists, the light would just come back on. For the change oil light all you have to do is turn the key on, but don't start engine. Press the gas pedal all the way to the floor 3 times within 5 seconds and that resets that light. Some Hummers have menu controls on the steering wheel to reset the oil light. But as far as a Check Engine Light, you may need to have your vehicle checked out. Local part stores like Autozone could check what trouble codes are in the system to see why the light is on. Don't know if they can clear them for you. Misfires, bad oxygen sensors, lean/rich fuel mixture are just a few examples of what can turn that light on.

Check engine light came on Tuesday afternoon, after I filled the gas tank on Monday afternoon. If the check engine light came on because of the gas cap not being on tight enough, do I just tighten the gas...

Check engine light might have came on because of loose gas tank cap, but it's a good idea to read the code and check if it's not something else, you can take your car to an Auto Zone and they read the code for free and tell you the cause also. But if you want to reset the check engine light, only way is to disconnect the battery terminals and let it set overnight, check engine light will be reset. Hope it helps and let me know if you need more advice. Please don't forget to rate the answer it helps with my ratings, thanks!

How to reset the "Check Engine Light" on my 2003 Cadillac STS

Your car is equipped with an OBD II system and requires and OBD II scan tool to reset the check engine light. There is a port under the dash that it hooks to.

A very basic tool is available from a variety of places for about $20.(i.e ebay, Harbor Freight)

Check engine light

there is no reset switch, either take it to a big name auto parts store and have them use a scanner to give you the codes and turn off the light,or just disconnect battery for 3min and the light should go out. the first suggestion is the better, this way you will know what turned the light on in the first place, get back to me if you need more help, please rate my fix

An orange light came on that looks like a picture of an engine

That is the check engine light, the internal computer has detected a malfunction in a system. could be just a quick fault and nothing is wrong, the light just need to be reset. Take it to pep boys or advance auto parts, they usually let you use a codescanner for free, which will reset the light. if the light returns, see your dealer for further diagnostics!

please rate the solution!
