Strut/spring on a 1999 grand am se

Last night when I put my car into gear the minute I stepped on the gas I heard a grinding noise, I tried to put the car into drive to see if it made the same noise, it did then it popped my tire. When I tried to change the tie I could see that part of the spring was loose and I could turn and move up and down as I please then I noticed there was a metal rod in my tire and I am not sure waht this is can anyone help??

Transmission making loud grinding/sucking sound, doesn't go when in drive or reverse

Is it an automatic John? When was the last time you checked the level of your ATF (automatic transmission fluid)?

There are many different types, so make sure you get the right one.

If it is a manual shift, check the gearbox oil level. If that is OK, you need a transmission specialist. Look in Yellow Pages.

Car won't start but makes a grinding noise like when the car is started already

This sounds like a damaged starter drive gear and engine flywheel gear.

Hi hou to repl.rear suspension strut and what will itcost to have it repaced at a shop. Henry mi car is a 2001 pontiac grand am se.

to replace a strut you will need to buy the whole new strut and find a way to compress the spring after you have removed the strut from the vehicle. you will need to put the spring on your new strut. the strut will usually have three bolts under the hood and about two connected to the steering knuckle. in a shop they usually charge anywhere from 50 to 80 dollars an hour and it just depends on how long it will take them to do the job for you. you can always call and get a quote.

I have a 2000 Jeep Grand Cherokee Limited with a V8 engine, and a couple of months ago I noticed that oil was leaking from the front of the vehicle. Then during the past week, every morning I've heard a...

Wow,
I think we have determined if the "oil" you saw as engine oil, yes I would say it was.
Sorry no easy solution. You may have a main crank shaft seal leaking, a engine oil coolant line, or a manifold gasket leak.
As far as the "grinding" noise I would like more detail. An engine that is very low on oil will sound more like a diesel... knocka knocka knocka.
Unless you are an experianced tech, I would take to a reliable auto center.

1999 Grand Am SE, weird noises, possible transmission problem???

I cannot say for sure but maybe a suggestion that it IS your transmission. The front wheel drive in these cars tend to cause problems for the transmission even at a young age. If you're driving around in the snow also you could be wearing out the gears prematurely. Sometimes a warning sign is the sound the gears make (humming and grinding) before one or more gears give out.
