2003 Monte Carlo losing power

My 2003 Monte Carlo has been losing power for sometime now, especially between 2 and 3 thousand RPMs...she cuts back when taking off btween first and second or second and third gear. Sulfur smell sometimes comes in. have to floor it to get it up to speed and then will be fine but I am increasingly losing speed. My mechanic says rocker arm on valve...had a catalytic converter put in two years ago....help! Danger?

I would try going to one of your local auto parts places first and ask them to hook up a codes scanner and see if there are any codes. If so, which ones and fix the first code first. That will usually fix any other codes as well.

Is it possible to cut the heater core out of the heating system

Sure, just leave the heater out of the loop, find the 2 hoses and you can buy a connector at the parts store to connect the 2 hoses together.

My 1997 monte carlo z34 3.4 engin is holding high rpms

I had a similar problem on a 3.4 Lumina Z34. It was a leaking intake gasket. Be careful with the plastic vaccumn lines as they will get brittle.

Have a 2003 Monte Carlo SS. Usually happens when I first start the car. The cruise control light comes on in dashboard at the same time the air, heat and defrost won't work. After a few minutes everything...

most of the newer cars especially the new chevys are all ran off the bcm or body control module, i would have someone with a snap-on brand tester check to bcm and the parts of your car first to make sure what is all wrong, could just be a shorted wire or a broken vacuum hose

I had this same problem on my 2005 monte carlo, took mechanic a while to figure out it was the idle air control valve. They also replace the idle air control motor.
