TSB 811-2160 will walk you through replacing the shear pin (and therefore also applies to replacement of the u-joint itself).

P0340 sensor location

This part is located on top of the engine on the drivers side about midway from either head.

The problem with this repair is the lack of a timing mark. The part may have sheared off its veins in the mating housing and a second part may be bad. The #1 cylinder plug at the back of the engine will need to be removed and the engine will need to be hand adjusted to top-dead center on the compression stroke.

When this is done, the new parts need to be aligned. You really need a Service Manual to get all of this right. Lots depends on what happened to make the sensor fail. It can be simple if no parts are sheared off.

I can not say what the parts cost, they are small. Some Repair shops and Dealers want full price, other shops may allow you to buy parts cheaper and bring them in. Browse the Web and see what they look like.

Soft top fault

This needs to go to the dealer to have the systems control module scanned for fault codes during an "active" test cycle.

I have a saab 2004 convertible that leaks whenever it rains

Some of the adjustment procedures (clearance between windshield and top) require shims and fabric removal. Also the cable adjustments require special tools. I have included all adjustable procedures below. If you cannot get the top adjusted into specification with these procedures, you will need to take the vehicle to the dealership.

Here are the adjustment procedures:

A soft top cover fore-and-aft and lateral adjustment

The soft top cover can be adjusted fore-and-aft, laterally and vertically. The adjustment is done to provide a pleasant appearance and a correct fit between the body and the boot lid.

Custom Car parts
The different adjusting points are detailed below. The order in which the adjustments are done depend entirely on the soft top cover adjustment when the work begins.

sorry to hear that mate, your slave cylinder has gone, you will need a replacement and more than likely a clutch as well if any fluid has contaminated the clutchplate, aero clutch is around

I managed to sort the problem, turns out there's a shear pin. I found this pin sitting in the bag in the back (the one the roof folds into) Now i just have to replace that and hopefully it should work

'99 9-3 SE Conv. Top Issue...

R-
The 99 9-3 uses a hydraulic top system with a single pump and different solenoids which open and close at points to operate different pistons for the top operation. From your description, it sounds like one of the many microswitches for the system is defective, bent, or broken. This is usually more the problem with these tops than other real mechanical issues. I suggest taking it to an indy saab repair shop or saab dealer. In order to test what switch is failing you need to have the Tech 2 computer to communicate with the soft top ecu when the fault occurs.

Fitting new antena aerial to Saab 93

Len-
The replacement only costs about $20. The dealer can also provide a replacement but it can cost upwards of $50+. Part number is 5035944.

The hardest part is removing the metal sleeve from the mast pole. Once you get this out, refit the new mast with the teeth so the motor will pull the new mast down when you turn the radio off. refit the 17mm nut on top of the mast and then turn the radio back on. It will click a few times and then be properly set.
