Question about 2004 Chrysler Voyager

1 Answer

I have a grand voyager limited diesel. The central locking has stopped working, both via the key fobs and inside the car. However, the key fob still opens the side doors as well as the boot. Same problem for both key fobs. When i press the lock button on the fob, the doors do not lock but the alarm is set. Any ideas?

Yes, I have had the same issue for the second time with my chrysler 54 plate 2.8 Ltd XS. First time I took the car and keys to the chrysler dealer and they fixed the issue in no time and at no cost. This is the second time (14/08/2008) but no success with the dealer this time. The suggestion is to remove the inner trim of the drivers door, then disconnect the wire for the locking mechanism and reconnect the wire after a couple of seconds. I have tried to remove the trim. What a pig of a job!!! and then given up. Have you managed to fix the issue yourself?

I have exactly the same problem with an 04 modle, I've tried to find the correct fuse but the descriptions on the fuse box lid don't help at all.

i have same problem on 2005 voyageer

I took the car back to the dealers for the third time to get the problem resolved by removing the inner door trim. The dealer tried to reset the electrics and it worked. The only issue i had was this time instead of being free of charge came with a one hour labour cost at close on £100 including the vat. I do not know of any way of fixing the problem myself!!!!!

    Any ideas?

My key fob, keyless entry, and auto locks have stopped working.

The contacts inside the fob may be dirty. If you carefully take the fob apart, you can inspect the contacts and clean them with some isopropol alcohol. You may also want to put a small amount of electical conductive grease on the contacts (available online or at RV stores). Believe it or not, these items do wear out.

3what is fob to p ress 5 times what is the fob

Key fob is the Smart Key with 3 buttons and no external key for 9-3 from 2003 on.

It does have a blade-type key inside to use to open door in case of remote - central locking system not working.

I can't open my boot with my key fob???

Check the wiring between the bootlid/tailgate and the car body could well be there's a wire broken, if so just solder the 2 parts of the wire back together and insulate

Key fob lights up but doesn't work even with a new battery

I'm more familiar with Range Rovers and Saab's when it comes to key fobs but if you changed the battery you have to re-program the key fob. If you do not have an owner's manual that can take you through the steps you might want to try: push and hold the lock button on the key fob, put it in the driver's side door and turn to lock. With the button still depressed turn back to open, remove the key and release the button. If this doesn't work check any and all fuses associated with your system and last but not least you could take it to a dealer. Good luck!
