Hi. I recently lost my car key and I'm wondering if I would be able to knock out the ignition switch and start it that way. Is this possible with a 1993 altima?

Only in the movies, I'm afraid. Does one key do everything on this car? I believe it does. If so, remove the lock from the glove box, if it has one, and take it to a locksmith to make you a key. Any easily removable lock cylinder on the car will do also, such as the trunk lock.

I need help resolving ignition problem on my 1984 s 1700 International crew cab with dump body. How do I get power from the key switch to the solenoid?

It sounds like you need a new ignition starter switch, that is the switch the key activates. Contact a local truck parts supplier to buy the needed switch, it is not very expensive.

1997 Blazer, had key in forward position and battery gauge was good and dash lights on. Relays on firewall got moved and lost all power. How do I restore?

I would sugest the problem lies with the ignition switch or barrel if you can't move the key. I would 1st remove the switch from the barrel & turn with screwdriver to see if it operates.

Lost key then screwed up switch

take a drill and drill out the tumblers use small bits to start off and then use large bits to finish out the job when the tumblers fall out take a small punch to knock out pin that holds the ignition in place then put in a new one be sure not to make a big hole of where the pin fits into because if you do the new switch will just fall out when you remove the key

1996 NISSAN MAXIMA SHUTS DOWN FOR 1 FULL SECOND!!!

It sounds like your car has an intermittent open current feed problem. Has there been any electrical/component repair or replacement recently? If so, that would be a starting point for diagnosis. Sounds like an ignition switch type problem. If you had an intermittent battery connection, the car would continue to run from the alternator output, but would not cause the warning lights to go through their initial "bulb check" sequence. But if "on" voltage is lost at the ignition switch, or that circuit, it would.

1989 honda civic randomly hard to start

Is the vehicle wanting to turn over? If not at all, look at the ignition switch, sometimes the contacts wear down and intermittant problems arise, such as not starting or car will die while driving.

Ignition switch 2001 honda civic lx

first you have to be sure you car does not have an transponder key system , that is a chip inside the head of the key that sends a four digit code to a reciver in the car and activates the ignition so you can start the car, call the dealer and give them your vin number they should be able to tell you if you have this or not, another way to tell is remove the plactice trim around the steering colum and look around the ignition for a coil of wire this is the recivier antenna, if you have this system your only option is to get the car to honda to have a key made and they will reporgram the transponder key system, otherwise while you have the trim off take a look at it and you will know if you can handle it, and if you have the tools to tackle it. not very difficult if it is a normal honda non tranponder setup, but i think you may have the transponder good luck -jeff
