Question about 2005 Ford Freestar

I heard a hard rattling coming from the engine going at a high rate of speed. The car was not vibrating, it was just a loud vibration coming from the dash.

One thing that Freestars are notorious for is a big gap that can allow things like change, pens, etc. get through to the front by the windshield. If you have left any of these items or anything of the sort then that is likely to be your problem. The only thing you can do is take the top front piece of the dash off and explore. If you can't see anything directly from the inside, look from the outside of the windshield.

Hmm this can be anything unfortunately, major problems doubt it, but more than likely its a plastic shroud of sorts, If you can pinpoint the location of the rattle then I might be able to give a little better explanation of the cause of your noise issue

I hear a loud ratteling noise coming from where

The rattle is likely a loose shield or a bad catalytic converter. As for the loud banging, Have you checked the front U-joints behind the brake rotors. As for the Reverse noise? Auto or stick shift?

Steering vibration

What are the condition of your tires? If their worn they can vibrate, also maybe have them high speed balanced. Most any shop can do that relatively cheaply. Also make sure your tires are speed rated for the speeds your driving.
Also keep in mind, especially with a 4 cylinder engine, the higher the RPM's, the more vibration your going to feel.

Vibration/Rattling on right side during high speeds

I had a similar problem. The dealer change automatic transmission and differential, but the noise continu. After research on internet i think the problem is the front galiper who create a vibration on the disc wheel and the vibration frequence follow the front axle until interior car. Just press slowly the brake pedal and if the noise stop , that's it the cause i think. I dont change my galiper, but i have a new transmission . :)))
