The amber MiL light, lights on a number of problems. You need to get it sorted, you could miss a serious fault, and cause More damage. Needs to go on a code reader. From past experience with Punto's, the stutter could be a ignition coil fault (quite common) or a spark plug, both will cause the light to come on. Good Luck.
amber or a yellowish orange color is normal for a check engine light take it to a autozone or a checker oriely's auto parts store and they can run a diagnostic scan on it to tell you what error code is popping up it it is a really major problem the light will be flashing if it is get it checked out!!!
The Amber Engine Icon means the same as a Check Engine Light. Your car's ECM (Computer) has stored a Trouble Code, and you will need a OBD II Reader (On- Board Diagnostic) to get the code so you can diagnose what is wrong with your vehicle. You can go to any AutoZone and they can read the code for you at no charge. You will need to diagnose and fix the problem before the Check Engine Light will turn off.
it sounds like thi light is a warning that the alternator is not recharging the battery.you should have some sort of warrantee with whoever=elections?=fixed it .or have the alternator tested.
Usualy the check engine light reports a malfuction in your engine performance system, it coulb be a misfire, bad sensors, vaccum leak, you need to have your engine code read from a garage or an auto parts store that offers the service for free.
