Question about 2004 Toyota Camry

Damage undercarriage-cannot access the oil filter for changing

Cannot change the oil filter since the undercarriage at that location damaged from running over a road divider. is the part bolted to the car or is it welded.
other idea is to have the hole enlarged by cutting with a torch. no problems with alignment or driving - did not notice till i went for an oil change. thanks

If the part is bolted, you should be able to unbolt it if you have access to all the bolts , if not, you can rent or buy a come-along and bend the sheet metal back far enough to gain access to the oil filter. Sounds like you have your work cut out for you either way!

It may have been leaking around the oil filter. I would keep an eye on the oil level.

Oil filter location

Laying under car it is on the left of the motor. you have to remove the plastic cover on undercarriage then you can access the oil filter and the oil plug. Standing in front of car it is on the right. only access is from underneath

Drain pan damaged, oil leaking from oil filter and drain plug, drain plug damaged. This is according to Walmart, after i left the car to have the oil changed.

may want to get a second opinion from a mechanic you trust. the oil pan being damaged would mean it is cracked because it is made of aluminum on the 3.1 and the3.4 liter engines.drain plug damaged could just be rounded off in which case Wal-mart will not fool with. oil filter leak could be smply residue from a previous oil change. again I suggest a second opinion

Where is transmission filter

Hi there,

The Diamante transmission can actually have up to 2 filters - one internal & one external.

It is recommended to change both these filters when doing a transmission fluid change.

ONLY USE MITSUBISHI ATF - Do not use any other brand of fluid, or you will cause damage to the transmission (Mitsubishi fluid has special properties).

The internal filter is inside the transmission casing and is accessed by dismantling the trans casing - careful, as oil will escape from the trans when you remove this cover. See item # 29, in picture.

The external trans filter (miniature version of an engine oil filter) is mounted on the transmission body, which is located behind (or under) the battery compartment. See Item # 6 in picture.

BEST TO LET DEALERSHIP CHANGE ENGINE OIL.YOU NEED A DEALERSHIP OIL FILTER.YOUR OIL FILTER INSIDE A HOUSING ON FRONT SIDE OF THE ENGINE. CHANGING YOUR OWN OIL NOT HARD.YOU NEED 9 QUARTS OF OIL LOOK INSIDE GLOVECOMPARTMENT FOR OWNERS MANUAL TO SEE WHAT TYPE OF ENGINE OIL YOU NEED TO USE AND HOW MANY QUARTS.IF YOU DONT CHECK READ MANUAL TO SEE WHAT OIL TYPE AND QUARTS YOU NEED. IF YOU BLOW OR DAMAGE THE ENGINE WARRANTY WILL NOT COVER THE ENGINE.FIRST OF ALL TO CHANGE ENGINE OIL YOU CRANK VECHICLE UP LET IDLE FEW MINUTES TO THIN OUT OIL THEN YOU TURN OFF ENGINE. YOU NEED TO RAISE VECHICLE USING THE FACTORY JACK.USE JACK STANDS. LOOK IN OWNERS FOR CAR JACK LIFTING LOCATIONS TO KEEP FROM DAMAGING ROCKER PANELS. AND PLACE A DRAIN PAN UNDER THE OIL PAN. UNDER THE VECHICLE.YOU NEED A WRENCH TO REMOVE OIL PAN DRAIN PLUG.WHEN ALL THE OLD OIL DRAIN OUT IN THE DRAIN PAN.SCREW BACK IN THE DRAIN PLUG TIGHTEN IT DONT OVER TIGHTEN STRIP THREADS.THEN YOU NEED SOCKET TYPE OIL WRENCH YOU USE WITH A 3/8 RATCHET WRENCH REMOVE OIL FILTER HOUSING.PLACE RAGS AROUND THE OIL FILTER HOUSING TO CATCH OIL SPILL. YOU WILL NEED TO GO TO THE DEALERSHIP FOR THE OIL FILTER AND FILTER HOUSING O RINGS. ONCE YOU GET NEW OIL FILTER AND O - RINGS INSTALL THEM IN THE OIL FILTER HOUSING.LOCATED OIL FILLER CAP ON VALVE COVER UNDER THE HOOD.REMOVE OIL FILLER CAP.POUR OIL IN ENGINE USING A FUNNEL.ENGINE HOLDS ABOUT 8.5 TO 9.0 QUARTS OIL. BUT LOOK IN THE OWNERS MANUAL CHECK HOW MANY QUARTS ENGINE NEED.CHECK OIL DIP STICK OIL LEVEL SHOULD BE ON THE FULL MARK ON THE ENGINE OIL DIP STICK.TO BE ON THE SAFE SIDE BUY 10 QUARTS OF OIL FOR A EXTRA.DONT OVER FILL MAKE SURE YOUR OIL LEVEL CORRECT.OIL DRAIN PLUG AND OIL FILTER TIGHT BEFORE CRANKING THE ENGINE.LOOK IN THE OWNERS MANUAL FOR OIL DIP STICK AND LOCATION.

I am trying to change the oil. where is the oil pan located on the undercarriage?

The oil pan on a 2001 Oldsmobile Aurora holds all of the oil for the engine and also protects the oil sump pump. The pan hangs low to the ground, making it prone to damage from rock.
Set the jack underneath the front crossmember of the car.
Set the jack underneath the transmission and lift it up until it just contacts the pan.Unbolt the oil pan from the bottom of the engine using the 3/8-inch ratchet, extension and sockets. Lower the pan off of the engine and away from the car.You must first remove the transmision, then the exhaust crossover pipe, then the oil pan. ------------

Thanks. keep updated for any more query.you can rate this solution and show your appreciation.

Oil change on a tundra

No special wrench needed for filter.
The oil filter is located in the front of the engine on the right side, down at the bottom.
It's easier to change the filter by taking of the front skid plate underneath. You'll need a 12mm socket to take it off.

If you try to get it from the top, you'll get oil all over the skid plate and have a big mess to clean up. Plus, you may damage the radiator by leaning on it.
