I have the same exact problems they mentioned. I had a bad fuel injector and ended up replacing all of them, since then my 91 300 non turbo has been doing the same thing. I went back though and checked my work, no leaks, changed the fuel filter and ran some injector cleaner through the gas tank, no change. then i changed out the Idle air control valve, and still have had no luck. But I will get back out there and check the coils. we had to take them out when we changed the injectors so it is possible one of them got messed up. Thanks

Let's start this with the assumption that you have a problem with one of your cylinders and its firing. With the engine idling, disconnect each coil pack, one at a time, and watch for any change in the way the engine runs (plug each one back in before you unplug the next). If it gets worse when a coil is unplugged, then that cylinder was running fine and isn't the problem. If you unplug one, and there's no change in the way the engine runs, you've found the problem cylinder. Try that out and post the results and we'll go from there.

Did you verify that the new spark plugs are gapped correctly? They don't always come pre-gapped and may need to have the gap set before installation. Also, do you have black smoke coming out the tailpipes? If so, that is an indication that the car is running rich, which would likely be the oxygen sensor on whichever side you see smoke from.

The aged engine needs to be replaced. Look for an aftermarket used and reconditioned engine. Have a station lift your out and replace it with a good engine. Could cost $1000 or more.

How to change flywheel on 1990 300zx non turbo?

pull the transmission. remove the torque converter (automatics) or clutch and pressure plate (standards), the bolts for the flywheel are under that. make sure you replace the flywheel with the proper one especially if it's a standard.

dude, i think you have two spark plug cables cross over. go to your local autozone and find a "firing order" if it was a blown head gasket it would show on the compression test but i'm pretty sure its a spark plug cable cross over.

Loss of power at 2400 rpm's

Check your mass airflow meter. If it's bad, at least on my 1990 300ZX, the car won't rev over 2400RPM (it's a safeguard built into the ECU of the car). Grab one from a scrapyard and swap it in and see if that fixes the issue.

I assume this is an automatic transmission. Is it a twin turbo or a non-turbo model? It sounds like you've lost fourth gear and are stuck in 3rd - those RPM would be about right. If you can provide more information, it will probably help in the diagnosis.
