Is it oil service light or low oil light?
If it's oil service light, that needs to be reset with an OBII scanner, Autozone or any good parts store can reset that for you (FREE)
If it's the Low oil light, then I suggest you replace oil pressure switch.

If you definitely got to change the oil after the oil change counter reset and then went out and had to be either a faulty oil pressure sensor or oil pressure failure.

2007 chevy cobalt the oil was just change and is now telling me to get oil changed soon

Sometimes they just fail to reset properly. Nothing to worry about. The youtube video shows the procedure to reset for a Chevy Truck, should be the same for your Chevy car.

Here's a website with explanation.

What do i do when oil maintenance required message shows? any immediate risk?

No immediate danger. Have your oil changed, then reset the light. Your owners manual will tell you how. You NEED to change your oil to keep your car running.

My maintenance light has come on slightly over 98000 miles. About 98600 or so. I have already gotten an oil change and the timing belt was replaced last year. Is it typical that the light comes on...

The light will come on based on your mileage. I would suspect it is on telling you to replace the cam belt. Your owners manual will tell you exactly what maintenance is due at 98,000 miles.

I have a 2005 dodge magnum, an the iol light started comin on wen i am parked, wats causing that, i already had oil changed.

try replacing the oil sending unit first,
it tells the gauge on your dash how much pressure you have,if your light comes on it means you don't have oil pressure,so change the sending unit to see if this takes care of it,

Service engine light on my 2000 cheavy blazer is on but thers no change in the performance and i just bought the factory gas cap for it i already put 4000 miles on it i hope all it needs is an oil change

I would hook up an OBD II code reader onto your OBD II port and it will tell you what is wrong with it. I doubt that a oil change will cure it but you never know. Good Luck!

My oil light keeps

You need to have oil pressure checked manually with oil pressure guage. There is a good possibility that the engine has excessive wear or a bad oil pump and oil pressure is really low. (It's like have a bad heart) That would definitely trigger oil light. If you have low pressure and its not taken care of immediately it will ruin the engine from lack of lubrication to vital parts. Good Luck contact me if you need more help. Thanks for using FIX YA
