the first thing that i would be checking is fuel pressure, you will need an external pressure guage you might have to take it to some one who has the right tools, if you have the guage make sure the fuel pressure does not climb slowly when cranking, the fuel pressure has to be instant.

Replaced head gasket torqed everything to right spec started up and ran fine for 3 to 5 minutes made noise and died now cranks over fine no start

as the engine started and ran, indicates that the timing and chain sections were assembled right
the noise and stop never to start again may be attributed to cam or crank position senor problems
they both have a set clearance from the rotors to work properly so if one was not tension properly and touched a rotor it would make a noise and stop functioning
next is the lubrication of the cam shaft bearings
If the head gaskets were not installed the correct way up the oil passage may be blocked making the bearings run dry and seize up or spin in the bearing caps . Im a bit cautious on this as 3-5 minutes means for it to happen bearing caps would have to be misaligned , placing extra pressure on the shaft but it can happen quickly especially if the oil passage was blocked by the head gasket
in the event that that happened ti could have caused the timing chain to fail or jump timing
unfortunately I can only surmise and go on your insistence that it was done right but the sad fact is , something was done wrong , or it would still be going

I have a 1996 buick skylark gran sport , and it kept running hot then it died at light, then started back up, started to run hot again, so i pulled over let it cool and also add water to help cool it down...

You may have done serious damage to the engine. If the water level is fine and you didn't blow your head offs when you penned the radiator cap like it tells toy not to when hot, it's the water circulation pump failing.

Water pump needs to be replaced. Don't keep driving it like that. It's bad bad bad for your engine. Unfortunately a water pump isn't typically easy to replace, seek professional help.

96 Nissan Maxima overheated grey smoke came out and now it won't turn on all it does is whine

Probaly Warped Alluminum Head and Head Gaskett Is Blown alowing water into oil . When the grey smoke come out the exaust that was it's last call. The Car cannot get enough compression to start is why you hear the whinning noise. I would check oil for water or water for oil. Now sometimes checking oil with dip stick wont do it cause the oil will set on top of the water. Best way to check is drain oil and watch what comes out? If head gaskett and head is warped both will have to be replaced with new., an expensive job. Sorry to be the bearer of bad news but this is my oppinion.

Replaced upper intake gasket, still losing antifreeze this time not visible

Did you change the Plenium also / if not you should of, these also go bad and leak antifreeze through to egr port , most parts stores will recommend you change it too, i've done several and they look good but the plastic turns soft and leaks coolant to egr port.

Oil Pan Rusted and needs replaced

ok not to hard to replace you need to go to auto store and buy a new one. it may or may not come with new gaskett they can tell you what size you need if it dosent come with a new one. also you will need to drain the oil before removing the old pan so make sure to buy new oil for that.. your basicly doing an oil change so you may as well get new oil filter too. then after you have everything... new pan, oil, oil filter, gaskett.. just get under take out oil plugg drain oil in catch can. remove the oil pan bolts you may have too tap the oil pan in different directions to get it to drop off. clean away old gaskett if you need to, and replace new gaskett and oil pan, lay new gaskett ontop of new oil pan and hold in place to get a couple bolts started then start and tighten all bolts useing a cross bolt tightining pattern to make sure the pan is in place{ tighten one bolt then do opposit bolt} change oil filter, and refill with oil.. if you need to see this done youtube is an excillent place to find videos on this.. i hope this helps... remember to let the car cool before doing this so get everything you need and start the next day before you drive.. nothing worse that getting hot oil down you arm while your laying on the ground...

Valve cover gaskets leaking, how to change valve cover gaskets 1999 rodeo

this is a preaty easy job if you dont have to much to remove it get to it.. i havent change them on a isuzu but they are all about the same make sure you get everything you need first at the auto store, tell them what you are doing and they can get you the proper replacment gaskett.. some folks like the glue gaskett comes from a tube you just squeese in place. some the fabric gaskett whitch is pre-cut and lays in the gaskett cover when you replace it. ether way the cover will need to be scraped clean and the surface on the motor where the gaskett and cover sitts will need the same done. [ razor blade works good] this takes the longest to do but has to be done well to insure a good seal when replacing the cover after all thats why you are doing this it leaks. if you have never done this before i suggest go to type in VALVE COVER GASKETS and watch a few videos this will tell you if its something you want to do yourself .there are alot of ones to watch and dont worry if they are not doing it on the exact kind of car you have they are all the same concept. if you have to remove alot of things and you have a digital camera just take a before picture so when your putting things back together if you need to refure to the pics you know where they went. i dont think youll have this problem with this project it was something i did when i started working on cars to help me remember. i hope you find this info helpfull

My sunbird is losing power while im driving. Check engine light comes on and off. After losing power, it starts up then loses power when accelerating and cuts off again. I had the head gaskett replaced

sounds like the distributor, I would replace it and see if that fixes the problem. If not then it may be with the fuel pump and filter. Good Luck Tim

My 2002 ford taurus leaks anti freeze and was told it was head gaskett or timing gaskett. The oil is fine and the leak is not all the time.

More than likely (and hopefully) it is the timing chain cover gasket. Common problem on Tauruses with the Vulcan V-6. Had the same problem. Replaced gasket and leak stopped. Not cheap if taken to a mechanic, but is doable if you have some experience and the equipment.

Engine seems to run good then goes downhill

Have a look at the fuel pump it looses pressure when hot which means it is due to be replaced.
