I also have this same problem with my 2001 Lesabre. The dealership said something about an actuator, but I don't know much about this. He said a ball park guess to repair would be $200 - $250 or more because they would have to remove the dash. Does anyone have any idea how to remove the dash and fix this? My husband would like to give it a try.

I am having the same problem as mentioned here on my 2004 Buick LeSabre. I attempted to see if I could fix the problem myself. I see where the blend door actuator/motor might be he problem. Tried to see under the dash but needed to remove the glove box and center drawer asmb.but could not get it loose after taking out screws and dropping bottom panel on passenger side. Gave up. Looks like a $300/400
    dealer job.

I had same problem on 2000 Lesabre blowing cold on passenger and warm on driver. I fixed it by adding more freon even though it had 28 pounds of preasure. Now it works great!

THIS IS THE ANSWER TO YOUR PROBLEM IF YOU DONT HAVE DUAL CLIMATE CONTROL AND EVEN THEN THIS WOULD MOST LIKELY BE YOUR ANSWER

×

Two common causes for this. The dr. side temp door acuator is faulty, not moving the door to the cold position, or the freon charge is low. Even a 14/ to 1/2 low freon charge will cause cold air on pass. side, but warm on dr. side. Many mechanics miss this, because if they install the pressure gauges, the pressure look fine, so they rule out a freon charge problem. the only way to be sure is to look at the temp door to see if it moves from warm to cold when you adjust the temperatyre. If it does, then nee to remove all freon and see exactluy how much came out. A/C machines give a readout of total amount of freon removed.

Are blows warm on drivers side

If the air temp is not as it should be on one side, the problem could be the controller or a blend door under the dash.

My lesabre blows warm air on driver side cool air on passenger side

If you have dual climate control, you most likely have a low freon level. The evaporator can get cold enough for the passenger side (where the evaporator is located), but not cold enough to transfer cold air to the passenger side. Have it inspected for a leak and the freon level topped off.

2001 buick lesabre-ac problems

  • Assumed your AC unit is OK, but uneven temperature distribution. Try to throw the heater on an off severtime. A sticky valve on the heater would cause similar problem.
  • Observe the RPM while parking your car. While the AC cut in cut out (or turn on an off). If it cause no load on the engine. The freon may be low or the compressor is bad. In this case only the intake side of the evaporator is cooler than the other side.

Air

If your A/C has a temperature control on the passenger door (dual zone): It may be set all the way to cold (end of the blue zone). If the driver's side is set to a warm temperature, that may explain the warm air from the vent.

If that's not the case, the a/c temperature mixer door on the driver's side may be stuck .
