Sounds to me like a fuel related problem. When heavy accelerating more fuel is pushed through the system. I would check the fuel filter, and its possible its the fuel pump, but usually once the pump starts acting up, within a few days it will go out all together.

try by replacing thermostat and the radiator pressure cap, this may be just the fix! make sure coolant level is fine. it sounds like it has to cool down for at least 10-15 minutes before restarting. god bless!!
Sounds like it could possibly be a vaccume problem, the computer sees that the vaccume has a low pressure and thus fludding the engine, or visa versa, it's seeing too high of a pressure and cutting the fuel comsumption to a minumum enough to make the engine sputter and die.. Does this happen when the cars in Netural or Reverse or Park? Just Drive?
I have a 1997 626 2.0L 5speed when im driven it like rev limits cuts out around 3500-4000rpm, and when i rev it up and past 4000rpm it stalls, anyone have a idea whats wrong??? thanks i just replaced the crank sensor and egr and still. good power put cuts out
hey, I own an 04 v6 mazda 6 as well and recently had that same problem. Its an ignition coil. The thing is that you have to wait until the check engine light comes on to know whick cylinder it is. I replaced all my spark plugs and boots all at once thinking it would solve the problem but it didnt work. It takes a while for the light to come on so what I did was to push my engine and make it come on. Hopefully its one of the the three coils in the front or else it would be a pain to get the back three. Each coil will run you about 50-80 dollars. Call me if you have any questions. change plugs wires also .fill gas tank up put prestone or gum out fuel injector cleaner.drive car around several miles.give injector cleaner time to clean out injectors.wait until engine cool .change fuel filter.relief fuel pressure before changing fuel filter.
