Question about 1999 Ford F150 Regular Cab
Your mechanic really shouldn't be a mechanic it is definatly NOT good for your engine if you remove one of the coils because gas will continue to be injected into the cylinder and then the unburned gas travels through your catylitic converter and this is EXTREMELY bad for it. if the firing order is good, than you can still drive it while you wait for a new coil but DO NOT drive without one.

Check the #3 spark plug. I have one of these "gems", and my trouble started out similarly. I had the vibration and then an exhaust leak. What it was, is the #3 plug blew out of the motor. The threads, in the head, are too weak to hold the plug in. It is a common (and can be expensive) problem to fix.
