Where is the heat sensor on jeep cher 2001 4.0 engine.

to what? there are many
first post symptoms or job. why must be guess all that.
engine running bad, scan DTC errors? what?

some engines have up to 5 sensors. related to heat.
IAT, air temp
ECT water temp coolant
dash gauge heat.
mAF sensors have one. if opted.
a/C over heat sensors.

my guess is its the ECT.
am i correct?
this is part of the EFI fuel injection system.
click chapter fuel systems. chapter 14
page 50 , figure 40
see it, its screwed in to the thermostat housing
i bet it not bad.
the tests are supper easy, ask,
if water temp is 180f + hot.
and the scan tool shows, 180F , ITS NOT BAD.
easy huh?

Where is the IAT sensor on a 1999 jeep grand cherokee limited 4.7L

great question, on some cars, its NOT THERE.
nice how you actually state engine option.
but way not post symtoms, or evidence. (got DTC errors from scan tool?)
fsm says.
4.7 quote:
The Intake Manifold Air Temperature IAT sensor is located on the left side of the intake manifold.
For a temperature of 68F (20C) the resistance is approximately 6000 ohms. For a temperature of 104F (40C) the resistance is approximately 3300 ohms. (this forum hates degrees symbols , dang)

its just a Thermistor. NTC

on some cars, its in the MAF
others its screwed in to the air cleaner box.
others, (yours) its in the air plenum. (MAP base EFI)
the map system needs the plenum baro and temp. TOGETHER.

Stalls and backfires 1997 jeep grand cherokee limited replaced the map sensor, coil rotor. distributer, spark plugs, spark plugs wires. throttle body pressure sensor ,ingnition coil IAT sensor. amd still...

you need to check the fuel pressure, and did you mean you replaced the distributor or just the rotor because inside the distributor is a pickup plate that some times causes this also 02 sensor can cause this.is your check engine light on if so go to chain auto parts store they usually read your codes for free.

Fan won't come on

RADIATOR FAN WORKS OFF OF THE COOLANT SENSOR NOT THE IAT SENSOR. CHECK YOUR RELAYS AND ALSO SEE IF IT COMES ON WITH THE A/C AS THIS OVERIDES THE COOLANT SENSOR FOR THE FAN. MOST LIKELY CAUSE WOULD BE A FAN RELAY
