Hi there,
Chances are is that the old converter could have broken up and the pieces are stuck further down the exhaust in a muffler restricting the flow which in turn would heat your converter up.
hope this helps.

Replace your muffler sounds like it is getting clogged up and not letting the exhaust gases escape fast enough that will cause the converter to over heat. Good luck

I have an old 1987 toyota 4 x 4 with a r22 engine. Just recently it started making a loud rattling sound when i would accelarate. Sounds like its coming from the catalytic converter its also turning red...

The cat converter is breaking up inside, blocking some gas flow, causing it to heat itself. May eventually block it enough to cause rough running or completely shutting the truck down. No repairs are possible. It must be replaced. Most people just remove it & put a straight pipe in its place. But that's illegal. And you didn't hear that from me. Well, who looks under a 26 year old truck?

Changed catyletic converter new one glows red what could be problem?

Glowing red catalytic converter means your car is injecting too much gas, more than the spark plugs can burn up efficiently in the cylinders, or you have a serious misfire, so multiple cylinders are sending unburnt fuel into the exhaust system, where it will ignite inside the catalytic converter due to high heat. find the cause of excessive amount of unburnt fuel getting into the exhaust system. don't run it like that too much or it will ruin your new cat. quickly if it is glowing red... incorrect timing of engine, severe engine misfire, possible causes.

Check your auto transmission levels. Slow, often jerky, gear shifting is often accompanied by a bit of a jolt when putting it into drive from park or neutral. When fluids are low the torque converter impeller has to work harder to get pressure up and therefore it is slower at shifting to the next gear . Low transmission fluids also lead to poor fuel consumption.

1994 toyota pickup heater stopped working

Sounds like there is air in the cooling system causing the engine not to overheat but the heater not to work. Flush cooling system and work the air out of the system.
