I have an 07 avalanche that did that to to the rear window. It was the switch. Take drivers side switch plate off and use one of the good switches on the drivers door. If it works roll it all the way to top and get urself a new switch. iIf it does not work then its the window motor. Good luck.............
Ok Could be one of 3 things...... 1. Bad switch. they're realively easy to replace. Cardone/HELP makes these switches and you can get them at any auto parts store. 2. Bad ground to the window motor. 3. Bad window motor. My best advise is goes the easiest, cheapest route. Replace the swithch first. That way if it solves the problem, you only have a couple of bucks into the repair, and you didn't change anything you really didn't need to get into. If it doesn't fix it, you still have a few bucks into it and a brad new switch in it that you don't have to worry about for a long while. IF you are not mechanically inclined with automotive elctrical systems, and the switch replacement didn't work, take to a reliable mechanic and have it checked for the bad ground first. Window motors can be pricey.
Window regulator is bad in the drivers door . Do you know what a regulator is ? The Trainer 24 Power Window Troubleshooting Do you know anything about automotive electrical testing ? How to read an use a wiring diagram ? Do you know there are two side to a electrical circuit ? B+ voltage an a ground side . Plus there is electronic control modules and class 2 serial data network involved . When you push the switch for a window othen then drivers window on the drivers door . a class 2 message is sent to the other doors modules . The correct module will then open it's window . http://www.bbbind.com/free_tsb.html Check out free wiring diagram here .Enter vehicle info . year , make , model and engine size. Under system click on body & accessories , subsystem click power windows . Click search button , then click each link one at a time .
Probably a bad switch. Try removing the panel and with a 12 - 18 volt drill battery by your side, disconnect or cut the heavy gauge wires going to your motor. Use the drill battery to attempt to raise your window. reverse the connections if the window doesn't do anything. If it raises, reconnect your wires and tape them up and replace your switch
I don't know for sure, but it sounds like at least one side of the window has come loose from the mechanism that raises and lowers it. Some cars have two plastic rivets or pins to connect the window to the mechanism. If one comes loose or breaks the window will behave as you described when you try to raise and lower it. If you want to fix it yourself you'll need to remove the armrest and inside door cover in order to see and access the window and raise/lower mechanism. Look for broken or loose pieces in the bottom of the door cavity. Hopefully you can see what's wrong and get replacement parts from the dealer.
The problem is that you probably have pushe dhte rear window button thinking it wasthe front window button. Have you ever pushed the rear window button thinking it was the front and then push harder. Inside the switch ther are little plastic pins. Open the switch and turn the little pns around and you should e fine. you cna e-mail me if you like and I can tell youhow to fix it...firstname.lastname@example.org
before spending alot of money on windows motors, try to take out the switch in the door handle and spray contact cleaner in the switch.. sometimes if you use alot of armor all on the door panels it will work its way into the switch and make it dirty.
