Question about 1997 Mitsubishi Eclipse
Leaving radio on in "off" for an hour WILL return the setting to "code". So, in a way, you could play the numbers, 3 at a time, every hour, but you'll waste a lot of time. Go with radio.com, getting ready to do that myself.

Dealerships charge way too much. use an online source for less than half what a dealer would charge you for a simple procedure. all you have to do is remove the face over the radio and pull the radio out to find serial & model numbers. then an online source will send you the code. just be sure you read serial & model numbers correctly.

I read on another site that if you get locked out, your radio will show OFF. All you need to do is keep your radio on for an hour. It will reset itself. Your car doe not need to be on. Not sure if this works, but it is worth a try and may save you $80!!
