If so, check to make sure the wiper motor is working. The transmission in the motor may be slipping. This would be what you should check, considering the fuse and switch are good.If so, check to make sure the wiper motor is working. The transmission in the motor may be slipping. Check connections to the washer pump motor. Test the pump motor with a jumper from positive power or battery terminal to the
pump positive connection. Double check the negative side (ground) for good connection to the body metal. Corrosion does funny things to electrical connections. Bad pump motor? Replace the pump. If the motor is ok, follow wiring back to a controlling relay. Follow the wire from steering collum switch which could be bad to a relay. Check steering collum switch for voltage when turned on. No luck, Repair manual make, model year possibly at filepeep.com or manualslib.com
washer pump dead.
never checked for 12v at pump turned on? (2 man)???????
if 12v there, the fuses are and all is working, easy 5min test.
i can see you didnt test the pump, for power.
pump tests (try with no hydraulic load first)
you removed the pump clean it , connect only the wires,
turn it on , does it spin? buzzzzzzzzz, (simple , no ?) it buzzes.
put it back and no hose connected. does it pump water>?
at its output port (open to the world) no hydraulic load)?/?
yes, then it's good. easy huh? and new pump now, so is.... and was....
conclusion here is the head, or load, is packed up.
not free flowing. # 1 cause, of all bad washers. is this...
for mixing wrong cleaners or other bad things in the tank.
solution:
then clean the hoses and nozzles, and some have an inline
check valve, that clogs.
packed or pinched lines
packed check valves.
packed nozzels
1. ensure that the wash fuse is ok.
2. click the ignition to on but do not start motor. and check for pump noise if not noise then suspect fuse pump, pump connection or washer switch.
3 if you can hear pump. check washer fluid bottle is not empty. check for any dirt in the bottle blocking the pump or pipe.
4 check pipes to washer jets are clear and connected.
5. check washer jets are not blocked, use a wire strand from a wire brush to clear.
is it cold? check that the fluid has not frozen in the system. get the vehicle in the warm and thaw out system once this is down top up with a good windshield antifreeze fluid.
work backwards through the sytem. disconnect water jet pipe and switch on if not fluid. move back to water container see if fluids comes or from there if so then pipes or jets are blocked.
if not pump is defective - blocked or not getting power..
Ok check if there
is voltage on the terminal that connects to the tank inlet usually
always have problems with the negative lead so I recommend you check it
.... Thanks good luck
first alway check the simple things first like fuses and relays then start playin with changin out parts. under the hood you sould find a fuse panel if the lid does not tell you what is what you need to look into the service manuel find the fuel pump relay and switch it with the same type relay can works some the doesn't effect the engine like a fan relay for expamle. then try to start engine when turning key to the run pos you sould hear a fant hum or whine from the pump. if thats a no go take the main fuel line off before the fuel filter and see if a good stream of fuel comes out when you turn key to run pos.if so replace fuel filter.
check the wiper run relay number 1 in the power distro box. Ford Explorers are bad about these relays either not making contact or being bad, swap with know good relay from another system on your truck to verify
This may be multi-function switch failure. The multi-function is the turn signal/wiper/headlight switch. It may need to be replaced. Is this the type of switch you have. Hope this helps. If it is not the switch then the pump may be bad or have a bad wire connection.
GOOD LUCK
