Question about Jeep Grand Cherokee

1 Answer

I have a 1998 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo. The heater/air stop blowing. I replased the blower motor resistor once and that fixed the problem. It stopped working again so I replaces the blower motor resistor again. This time it still doesn't work. I've checked all the fuses. What should I check now?

No water or fire damage that I know of, I checked and had power at the fuse box. I also hooked a battery up to the blower and it worked. So, like you said, check the wiring between the fuse box and the blower. That will take some time, since its so hard to get to.

You need to check the wiring from the blower to the fuse box.

You may have a short of some sort that is causing the resistor to fail. Are there any other problems? Have you had any water damage to the vehicle?

Ok, best of luck. This is not a fun problem to deal with.

There are two systems to evaluate.
  1. Air Blows Fine but not Hot -> Check Thermostat and coolant level.
  2. No Air Blows -> Check Blower Motor, Blower Motor Resistor Pack and Blower Control in Dash

AC/Heater blower fan stops blowing air into the cabin when I accelerate.

Usually a vac leak. I would check for a leak in the HVAC control system and the line thru the firewall to the engine.

The blower motor resistor pack is blown. It's easy to replace, it's next to the blower motor in the heater box.

'95 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo...Blower motor speed control resistor out. Only blows on high. Where is the resistor located to replace?

It is located on the heater box. Can be inside cabin or underhood. But it's def in the big black box somewhere. Hard to notice, all you will see is a plug in and a flat flange. May snap in may bolt in. I recently changed one on a dodge caravan and it was just above the heater hoses under the hood. Hope this helps !

My 2005 Jeep Grand Cherokee heater only blows air on the high setting, I ohm tested the HVAC fuse under the hood and only get response on 1 leg.

when the blower motor resistor fails the blower switch defaults to the high position. autozone.com has a great tutorial on how to replace the blower motor resistor.

realfixesrealfast.com has a segment on blower motor resistors.
