Question about Hyundai Elantra
The "Check Engine" light is the vehicle's computer displaying that there is a malfunction ,and a trouble code stored,so the only option is to pull the codes out,and diagnose the codes. The code will at least give you a direction, whatever system on the car, that there is a a problem in.The symptoms described sounds like a transmission problem, but can also be something minor,or can be an engine or sensor problem.Get the code number and a short definition written down.Places like AutoZone will pull codes for free,an OBD2 code reader can be bought for $70,or a shop can check it out.

Your transmission fluid contain water, thats why the colour of the fluid changed to pink. And of such the clutch is slipping causing the engine to reve up before shifting - Check transmission cooler.

Sounds like its a shift solenoid or a speed sensor. Have the vehicle scanned for codes and get back to me . Autozone does the scanning for free.
