Question about 1997 Land Rover Discovery

You should have received a security code in the intital paperwork for your car. Assuming that is lost, its near impossible to "guess" from the 10,000 possible codes because of "progressive lock out" when you guess wrong codes (1min for first one, then doubling each time).
If its not the original radio, then sometimes people write the code on the unit when transferring it, but thats a long shot, and you'll need two U pins (or two bends of wire coathanger) to remove the radio to check.
Failing that, its a trip to the dealers, who can get the information for you (based on vehicle identification plate etc), but that costs.
Another alternative is to look for a second hand one on eBay ... just check the listing includes the relevant code, or you are back where you started. Changing the radio over takes less than five minutes with the right tools (again available on eBay for around a pound)
