Mine just randomly does not start and I have to wait about 30 minutes. Usually in cold weather but happens on hot days too. No apparent reason, mechanic can't find any problems. I also have an 04 Ion 2.

I have the same type of problem with my 2004 Saturn Ion. If it is below 30 degrees it might start and might not. I have taken it to the shop but they can't find a problem and I was once told it was my battery and bought a new battery and within two days it wouldn't start.

Ive read the key isn't recognized when its cold and the alarm is set and takes about 10 to 15 min to reset itself. Has anyone had alarm disconnected to solve this? help

I have an 05 saturn ion and the same thing happens to me. I was told it was the ignition switch...and paid $200 to get that replaced. It still does it. The battery is "good" I sometimes get up at 5am just to see if it is going to start...

Same vehicle, same problem. Will not start in cold weather. I am going to have a remote starter hooked up to see if this will be the cure to the cold weather start problem. I have had the battery replaced and that was no help.

It is a common problem on Saturn Ion... You have to replace the pass lock switch. The cost of the part is around $65.00 cdn. It is located behind the key switch.

Sometimes my car won't start, the security light blinks i wait ten minutes try again, then it starts. How can i fix this without the dealerships help?

Is it cold when this is happening? If so it is your ignition switch. Common problem with ions yet no recall. Just have to get it replaced and its costly too, around 400$. I have had mine replaced twice in 3 years and with a new one i have still had some times it wont start on VERY cold days

04 ion,30 degree mornings car acts like dead battery wait an hour for temp to rise and it starts, was there any bulletins on this subject.

Ignition cylinder is the usual culprit. Saturn has a big problem with their ignition cylinders going bad when very cold or humid.

2006 Saturn Ion won't turn off. Key will come in and out and will turn the car on, but since its a manual transmission we have to put the car in gear and kill to get it to turn off. What do I need to...

the ignition swotch on the end of the lock cylinder inside the bottom of the steering column there is a connector that goes to it,,replacde that switch and relearn the switch,,,,after you replace the switchtry to start the car then let the key go back to the run position and let it sit for 10 minutes do this 3 times with 30 seconds between key starts and on the last one wait 2 minutes when done and they try to start it,,,,so its 3 10 minutes learns with 30 seconds inbetween,,
