2001 BMW 325i Power Window Won't Go Up

Early this afternoon, I opened the window halfway while waiting in the car. When I started my car, the window wouldn't go up. After pressing the switch a few times, the window went down all the way and would not go back up. I can hear a faint noise that the motor for the window seems to be running. Is it a fuse problem? Could it be the switch or regulator that broke? How can I tell? Shall I replace all window fuses first and see what happens? If so, where are they?

I'd greatly appreciate your help!!

My 1999 BMW M3 convertible had its door and glass replaced at the body shop (after a hit and run that damaged the door and broke the glass). The paint job was nearly perfect and the door well put together, however, the window mechanism was intermittently malfunctioning. For instance, when I press the button for windows (past its clicking, which should make the window go up all the way after I let go), the window goes up and stops a 1/3 of the way up, then I press it again, it goes up 2/3 of the way, and a third time to finally close the window. However, if I press the button past its click, AND hold it down while the window is going up, then it goes up just fine. However, on occasion (like after a rain storm), the window will just go up fine without having to hold down the button. Is this an electrical problem, mechanical, or both?

I have the same problem. My 325 xi wagon's front passenger window and drivers rear passenger window both just stopped going up. In both caese there is some noise but some creaking and groanng as well. I understand it might be the window regulators. My main concern is taking the interior door apart to get at the guts. Is this difficult, and does anyone have some step by steo instructions?

2006 BMW 325i driver side master power window switch does not work. All other individual switches work fine. Checked fuses all are good. What should I check next?

Have you tried spraying the window guides/channels with silicone, the motors are very small that operate the window, it just might be they are sticking from no lube, I have seen this many times in my 30 years as a tech. If this doesn't provide the cure swap the window switchs and see what happens that may be the issue. This is from a post on a BMW owner site:

When I put the switch from the front window in the console for the rear window, I got nothing. When I put it back in the front console socket, I was able to roll the window back up. So, now it looks like I have 1 switch with a faulty down and one with a faulty up. I took the switch out of the console for the rear left window and tried it on the front right window. The window goes up and down! However, I'm still getting nothing when I put it in the console for the rear right window as well, looks like one switch is defective on down, and the other on up, so I replaced both.

most likely you need a window regulator, too many plastic parts used on that regulator.
probably one of them snaped.

SOURCE: 2001 325i Power Window can't move back up

it could be a lot of things, It might have gotten off track and now is jammed or something. I would suggest taking it to the bmw dealership so no damage is done to the window itself.
Good luck and keep me posted.

On my 2001 kia sportage the back two windows won't go down and the right front window is stuck halfway up

make sure power windows lock out switch on driver side not on position, that will cause power windows not work or you have faulty power window relay.

When I close the door on my e36 325i convertable the window won't go up, it normaly drops on opening of the door and goes up on closing but non of this is happening help really appreciated thanks

You have a problem in the window regulator assembly.
Go to a nearest garage and have check the window regulator, sounds like the gear mechanism have been nicked and releasing the window in heavy vibration.
Hope that helps!

If the vehicle is in Deadlock mode then a slim jim will not work. A good locksmith should get it open with no problems.
